What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 257 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (13,251 of 15,630 positive).
Players praise the intense, addictive extraction shooter gameplay that mixes STALKER and Tarkov. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the game for lacking content and having unfinished features. [4][5][6] Several players complain about poor controller support and inventory management issues. [7][8][9]

Zero Sievert is a game with extremely satisfying shooting mechanics, high stakes combat, and a fun game loop. The lethal nature of fighting in this game gives it a real feel for being a stalker in an unforgiving environment. One misstep and you die. In my personal opinion I had great fun with the game. So why did I leave a bad review? To put it simply, what should have been the HARDEST part of developing this game …

Stash is overflowing with top-tier gear. I could retire, sell everything, and never set foot in the zone again. Instead I’m still loading in at 3am with a full kit I don’t even need, chasing that one more perfect raid. The zone doesn’t care how rich you are. 10/10 pure addiction.

I rarely leave comments, but this game surely deserves it. The game is absolutely amazing at what it wants and does. By mixing the best from Stalker and that other weird cheater extraction game, devs knew for sure how to make player's time action and fun-filled. Sound is great and fitting. There were plenty of times when I was looting and by slow increasing steps towards over some wet puddles knew where the danger …

A top down shooter with very simple pixel graphics, but the gunplay, sounds, and gameplay is very much modern. Imagine Tarkov and STALKER mixed together, and add a generated map so no run is always the same. The gun customizations, ammo options, mechanics, has depth, and no run will be ever the same. Yes, you visited the same map, but the layout is different, the extraction zone is far away, and you're now low on …

This game DESPERATELY needs a few more talented modders. The documentation is included with the download and is AMAZING!!. That said, I can NOT stop playing the vanilla game! It's SO much fun. I don't even like this genre of game but I'm hopelessly addicted to it! Strongly, STRONGLY recommend. (I've logged like 150 hours in the past 2 weeks since getting it oops) The only downside is that many near essential quality …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: A profoundly questionable design choice coupled with overtuned lategame enemies sour the whole experience. For context, the last time I played was when the game was in Early Access. There were clear "best" picks regarding weapons and perks and base modules, and in a way where the balancing needed to be addressed, but the core gameplay was rock solid. I played through the content available at the time, had a blast going through what was there focusing on various ways to play, and then…

This game is incredible on the steam deck, with the exception of inventory management (often the cursor resets, making moving things between containers tedious, if the dev could resolve this, it would be downright dreamy)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I no longer can play this game... I have a linux machine. If you are on linux bad luck. For quite some time we could play it. But after one of the latest updates (I think it was the christmas update... it stoped working). Thanks for the hours, it was funny. If it is possible it would be cool if this game could be compiled for linux.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best game I've played in a long while when npcs fight eachother you know its good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm writing this review because some of the recent negative reviews are plain sdubid and put the game in "mixed" and it's totally unfair. I hate writing overly long reviews but I think this might be useful to those thinking of buying and being unsure cause of said negative reviews. This game is a surprisingly complex extraction shooter. If you like hard games where you need to be careful every step of the way because behind every single corner you turn might be a danger lurking. If you like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A shame that we decided to spam promotions from the second game on the first game. I don't want you to make a second game, I want you to fix/finish the first. 'Its happening' was teased almost two months ago, we've gotten a localization hotfix, QoL patch and a hotfix for the hotfix. Why can't you just focus on making a good game rather that just 2/3 unfinished games? Buggy, and clearly not going to get the love it needs to polish it properly. Really disappointed, yall had such a gem but you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →recent review-bombs coming in from people with no object permanence thinking that because ZS2 exists, ZS1 is suddenly some unfinished demo-state game (a statement they would not have made in their dozens of play hours before the sequel was announced) these are not genuine opinions of people capable of critical thinking. it's, at best, petulant whining from the type of people you have to explain sarcasm to. ZS is a very good game and a fantastic take on the extraction genre, especially as a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has terrible controls if you’re using a controller. It claims to have full controller support, but be prepared to hate using a controller. The inventory system is the worst one in terms of design that I’ve ever seen. With a controller it’s hard to even tell what you’re doing sometimes and some icons barely are highlighted when you’re selecting them. The game is already intended to be difficult without holding your hand and starting with a real tutorial, so the bad controls make it ten…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think ZERO Sievert is a decent game at its core, and the idea behind it is genuinely interesting. A full solo extraction shooter is a rare thing on the market, and that alone already makes this project stand out. If you want a Tarkov-like loop without PvP, just you, the map, loot, and extraction - this game does deliver that experience. The basic gameplay loop works: you go on zone, bring back resources, upgrade your base, and slowly progress forward. In general, playing it feels okay, and I…

neutral · AI labelView post →Unfortunately the controller support is really poorly implemented. You have to put your cursor over an enemy to score a full hit, not just have them in the path of the bullet, and since the cursor on controller is constrained to a circle around your character, that's physically impossible most of the time. Also, some weapons like rifles have a longer required distance between you and the target to score a full hit, further than the cursor can even go, so it's just not possible with some weapons.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game have a lot of good things going. running around exploring and fighting is always nice - doing what YOU want. if you like tarkov and are looking for some solo top down experience, then sure. try it out.(ive had my fun tbh) but the thumbs down comes from dying to stupid things. The word's "what the ♥♥♥♥ just happened" Will become youre go to sentence for this game... Dying from, an unarmored bandit (that you outclass by far)- gettin shot from outside range to being lazered…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hope there will be an update to the game to allow multiplayer and friends to play together.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the new distance mechanic is so awful and unfun its terrible I love doing 2 damage because the npc is 1 inch too close to me really fun. I love having recoil when npcs can beam you through tier 6 across the map full auto
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inventory management and UI is awful. I don't have the greatest eyesight so this might be on me, but being able to tell enemies apart from the background and terrain is really difficult, even in full daylight. Enemies don't have the same problem so this feels unfair to me. Escape from Duckov is a way better version of this game, has way higher usability, inventory is better, stash and base are easier to upgrade and make more sense. Just way better. It hasn't been even 2 years yet and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a relaxing single-player extraction shooter. Relaxing because I'm a masochist and played on the hardest difficulty without baby steps. That being said the learning curve comes from the game not holding your hand. Not telling you, "Hey this area is dangerous." Not telling you, "Hey there are free supplies if you are poor." Took me 5 runs with literally nothing to realize that one. But that's part of the charm. (To me.) I learned to survive because I kept trying. Trial and error. And…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is NOT being abandoned and is NOT in a complete state. The devs, if anyone downvoting this game, STILL HAVE huge updates planned and have been teasing and hinting at it releasing soon for this game, while an entirely seperate group is working on ZS2. READ THEIR STATEMENTS BEFORE LISTENING TO THESE REVIEWS, they put up an AMA on reddit talking all about this. This dev team very obviously loves their jobs and they love to keep improving these games. Really the only downside to this game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dev says its a full release, but it's still very early access and they started making a sequel, instead of further developing their game. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You're going to take damage from the same things over and over, and it's never going to become avoidable with skill. Enemies all have aimbot + nightvision and will lock onto you as soon as 1px of them is on the screen.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sat in my wish list for a long time, but I finally gave in and got it during a sale. I've never played (nor looked into) an extraction shooter, so this game is a first for me in this genre. I'm a middle-aged player, my reaction times are trash, and I lean "casual" when it comes to gaming due to work-life balance. This game is hard, but, as a casual player, I really like that I can alter how the game plays in the options so that I don't feel frustrated by the difficulty. I can bend the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every time I see the dev’s vlog being posted, I can’t help but feel like asking for a refund. The pace and quality of the game’s core content updates are honestly worrying. I’d forgive everything if you at least posted a proper written devlog, but instead players are forced to sit through those arrogant, tedious, and completely uninformative videos. The UI is unbelievably rough, and all the long-discussed design issues haven’t seen a single improvement over the entire year — especially these:…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not for me. I tried it years ago and couldn't get into it either, thought maybe all the free updates would change my experience but it did not. The game has definitely improved alot though, but I'll list my personal gripes in the hopes they can use that to further refine the experience. Issues I had: - My number 1 issue was not being able to fast forward time in any way without the first bed upgrade. I wasn't lucky enough to find the right parts for the bed before the first night rolled…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried to like this game, but in all honesty it's far too clunky and unpolished to enjoy, at least for me. I have over 1000 hours in Tarkov, I love extraction shooter games, I love 2D games as well. This one just misses the mark. - The UI and its UX is not good. The inventory is clunky, unintuitive and visually buggy. This is the only 'inventory tetris' game I've played where it's actually taking away from the experience of the game as whole. It's as bad as the reviews say it is (I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →CrossCode! Why is this freaking game still such an underdog? Zero Sievert is also well worth mentioning.
neutral · AI labelView post →Not set up right to be played with controller. Needs better controller and/or steam deck controls support.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Biggest complaints are that it's very, very hard to tell whether an NPC will be an enemy or if you'll get screwed over for shooting first, enemy NPCs having INSTANTANEOUS reflexes in all circumstances, and in general all of my deaths having me going "uuhh, okay, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do better. Guess I'll try again and see if it goes any better." Rounding a corner to instantaneously die to a random looter with a machine gun who kills me within a tenth of a second of even rendering…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you play this game, remind yourself that no matter how armed to the tooth you are with your fully decked out Skop-H with tons of mags, your T5 armor, your bag full of grenades and MRE, it's always the damn pigs that get you..... and wolves..... and Arman..... maybe that bandit too if you had your guard down... yeah.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →been following this game since early-early access. and i can say im very happy with what the developers did. the core of the game is simple, but it grows more complex when you add enemy varieties and level design, all of which are very good. i like the semi-random gen aspect of some maps, but it feels like it was left out on the newer ones and the predictability is something i feel removes from the replayability of the game. in general, i think the end product is very good especially when you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wholeheartedly recommend this game, with a couple of caveats. First the good: -The game somehow manages to captures the full intensity and tactics of a running gun battle in 2D. It honestly gives me close to the same "anxiety" kick as Tarkov does, but without the whole "I'm about to lose the last hour of play time because I made one bad decision" feeling. -Because of the basic graphics, movement, gunplay, and other aspects are extremely smooth, even on low end machines. Of note, on some…

The developers behind this game are honestly some of the most dedicated and community-focused devs I’ve seen in a long time. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is actually pretty solid but only during the early to mid game, everything is falling a party once the Mall location is unlocked and when the class 5-6 armor unit showing up. The bad things: - Late game is utterly unfun and frustrating due to the late game units. They are just terminators with perfect accuracy and instant reaction, even if you attack them at a different angle outside of their vision, they still instantly turn around and shoot at you. At the result there is no sense…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically Stalker-lite extraction shooter with Tarkov inspired sprites. PC spec requirement is very low. My potato PC can run it. Relatively row risk, you can choose a difficulty to not lose your equipment if you die in raid. This is a small world for anyone who wants to spend an hour at least to shoot some sprites in the face.

It seems like things can go south in a second at any time, completely out of your control, and you lose your progress. It just feels like a slog. Response to dev: It just doesn't feel fun. I don't enjoy the difficulty curve and the progression feels like a slog to me. I've got about 30 hours in the game, so I feel I've given it a fair shot. I just want to enjoy it more than I do.

positive · AI labelView post →I played on middle difficulty (survivor) so your experience may vary if you play the last difficulty which is hunter (losing gear if you die in raid). Because of the 360 no scope, aimbot enemy, not losing your gear is more preferable in my opinion. Positives Gun sounds and feel are punchy and meaty. Aiming is pretty nuanced despite the top-down perspective with glancing shot if your cursor is not directly hovered over the enemy. Armor penetration vs armor durability works well and in-depth.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that I love in concept, but find myself not playing because of its difficulty. I love punishing games but my reaction times have greatly diminished over the years. I constantly die to the most mundane things in this game because I did not notice them until it was to late (boars, wolves, random guy blending into the woods). The game is a lot of fun and I recommend it to anyone who likes a challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to love Zero Sievert. I’m an EOD owner in Tarkov and come from a heavy extraction shooter background, so I know the grind. I’m fully aware STALKER Anomaly isn't an extraction shooter, but that's the lonely vibe I’m after. Zero Sievert gets that atmosphere right—the mechanics just feel half-baked in a few spots. The "native" controller support is the biggest issue. The devs claim it’s there, but the inventory is impossible to use on a stick. It's a nightmare for anyone not on a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enemies are far too accurate and twitchy with ability to instantly fire the millisecond you pop from corner, and their tracking is almost impossible to break free of, even in pitch darkness they perfectly track your character, guns jam far too often while the npc's never jam, don't bleed from gun shots and do not tire, meanwhile your own unit is dead in seconds and takes forever to bandage.
