Art house game with mundane puzzles, but amazing visuals and rotoscoped animation. And yet... Constantly needing to scan the screen to see which item is the interactable one is annoying and poor design. Most puzzles are uninteresting tasks. Two main protagonists are not relatable and are too drab to sustain player interest to complete strings of plain-jane mundane tasks to reveal the lacklustre story. Only redeeming …

This is a really great game that I wish would receive more attention! The art style is incredible - both the rotoscoping animation, and the beautiful details on the objects and background. I still don't understand the story at its full but I'm only a short time into my second playthrough. I am very intrigued and it seems that the replayability is very high as I started my second playthrough and it was vastly …

Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly but with paranormal events. It's charming, intriguing and kinda scary. I'm just 2 hours in and I already know I will be replaying the game, because I need to know what this all means. Just wow. How does this game have so few reviews? It's criminal how underrated this is. A tasty treat hardly anyone knows about. Edit: After 10+ hours, I do want to point out that if you're going for …

Frank and Drake is a modern narrative experience told from two perspectives. Players take on the two titular roles and must make important choices, solve puzzles and play minigames in this branching supernatural adventure. It is a fantastic example of a narrative experience with a lot of interactivity, variety and replayability. The story is engaging and suspenseful with well-rounded and interesting characters. The …

Beautifully crafted game. There is a whimsical atmosphere in all aspects that drags you into the story. The art, the music, the narrative are incredible.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Written by a music composer of this game my review may feel too praising. But this game took a place in my heart since i've first met the concept and arts. So much effort and love was involved! All the details of envirment, animations, texts here and there - but the main thing - Story! Story is absolutely mindblowing for me. Please give it a try, this game deserve your attention. By the way from my POV that's the best OST i've ever made to this point. Hope you'll like it too.

I want to start off by saying my attention span has deteriorated more than i'd like to admit but this game beyond kept it. I'm currently most of the way through my second play and cannot wait to finish all of the endings! The only thing i would recommend to the developers is that they add a way to skip already read text or played through…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was drawn to the animation and supernatural story but it's just not interesting. I didn't care what happened to either Frank or Drake. The game spends 0 effort on making these characters likable. The puzzles are easy but often tedious (re-arrange books, go thru a maze... in the dark). After one play thru I have no desire to find out more about the "story", maybe it's the ending I got, but almost everything was revealed. I appreciate the studios effort but I cannot recommend this game to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this type of game and decide to try to play it because of the arts and graphics also the trailer is so interesting, but after I played it for 1 playthrough i got more hooked and love this game!! After the second playthrough I've become more mesmerized that eventhough you play it for second time, there are still more mysteries to discover so i can't wait to find all of the endings for this game! Really love the game and wish there will be more game like this again from you in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently completed my first playthrough of Frank and Drake, and I have mixed feelings, though the experience was generally positive. The absolute highlight for me is the visual presentation. The rotoscoped animation is stunning and gives the game a very unique, almost dreamlike atmosphere that sets it apart from other narrative adventures. It’s clear that a lot of heart went into the artistic direction of Oriole City. Regarding the gameplay, it took me some time to get used to the very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what I play indie games for. This is a work of art that was made because someone had a vision, an original concept, a unique style. I'm not even remotely into horror or the gothic stories Frank and Drake is inspired by, but the demo left a real impression on me. So with the recent huge price drop, I took the chance. TL;DR: one of my highlights of the year. It's not perfect, but it's a shame that this game went almost completely under the radar. I found that the art style, animations,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it! It's a narrative game through and through and I had a good time going over it several times. I particularly liked the sort of "flickering" art style, the soundtrack, and the overall narrative. There are these bits of "philosophy" that are strewn about that add to the overall dreamy atmosphere of its environment. There are unique puzzles throughout the game and while some of them are a head-scratcher, most are usually not that difficult to figure out. That being said I do have some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a gorgeous and unique experience. The rotoscoping animation must have been exhaustive to do, but the effect is wonderful. I think the story that unfolds is something everyone who likes a good mystery and/or monster lore will appreciate. 10/10 would definitely recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice slow paced game, until... the Zoo scene comes in. I enjoyed the storyline and the decisions so much, and then the developers decided to include a fast paced time critical minigame in between which is quite annoying to play. This completely threw me out of the story, and after 10-ish attempts I rage quitted, which rarely occurs to me. First time for a story driven game. Oh, and by the way: the devs never played with a mouse, because one has to reactivate the mouse every time on game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really deserves more attention. The animation and overall style is so polished and interesting, I found myself constantly wanting to take a closer look at all the little details. It has a lot of replay value, because you need to get multiple endings to fully understand the story. Each choice leads to different places, and I've been enjoying them all! My only major complaint, is that it would be really nice to be able to skip certain scenes after you've already viewed them. But all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh I'm loving this game. You want to keep coming back to it for aesthetics, if nothing else. It is full of little things the developers made not because they were necessary, but because they were feeling like it. Like that menu screen that can go night or day (you iterate between those during gameplay). They tell the story not only through text, but with the mechanics themselves; for example, the more exhausted your characters are, the more often you need to press navigation buttons for them…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story and mechanics in this game are great. I love it and I've completed it once. I'm looking forward to the second play through. But, .... there's this obnoxious maze puzzle. I'm not looking forward to dealing with it again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one was a nice surprise! I saw the trailer somewhere and a friend also recommended to give it a go, and I'm happy I did. I don't think I've played anything like this before, is really hard to classify. But it kept me intrigued all the way. The story is well presented, the art is really cool, and the music is too. I saw one ending, but there are 5 more so I'll go back to it and change my choices, the replayability factor seems to be a lot stronger than in other narrative games. Found a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The artistic aspects—the graphics and the music—are really good. The story isn't bad either; it's average. However, there are a lot of branching paths in the game, and you'd have to replay it over and over if you want to fully understand the story. It takes about 6 playthroughs; I did 2, and that was enough. I think it would have been better if the game were longer, with fewer choices, and you only had to play through it twice at most. Check Group page for much more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unable to end even the first day due a 'known issue' which appears when you don't solve the word-riddle during the day, so you can't note it into your diary which leads to the issue, that you can't leave it as note for drake AND can't end the day. Nice
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game #7: Frank and Drake Thanks to @andresplays.bsky.social for recommending this to me! Loved the rotoscope animation and the soundtrack. The story and puzzles not so much but it was an interesting experimental game nonetheless!
neutral · AI labelView post →a mystery with supernatural themes, a shorter game with branching narratives (multiple endings, love that in a game) it's interesting, the art is something unique and fits the vibe brilliantly the game is a typical click and point with puzzles and while i love those, the puzzles did get a bit frustrating sometimes and had me searching for help (safe puzzle anyone? still have no idea how to solve it but thank you reddit) (also going to mention that the final puzzle is the same no matter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros - Looks beautiful - Pleasant soundtrack although it can get a bit repetitive. - Lots of collectibles to find if that's your thing - Replay-ability and different endings if that's your thing - Interesting story but pretty weird too. - Simple but engaging game-play, mostly a visual novel with some light puzzles. Cons - The game is not entirely playable with the mouse, there are some segments where you need to use WASD or arrow keys - Although the story was interesting I felt the wrap up at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game made of LOVE and pure passion for narrative driven game. Sit down, relax, take your gamepad or your mouse and let the story and the characters unfold. As always with Appnormals there are some challenging puzzles, but also those dramatic story beats that we, game lovers, love so much. It's a world that it sucks you and while you are inside it, there is nothing outside. No noise in your head. Please, enjoy this piece of crafted magic! You will not regret it to come by.

neutral · AI labelView post →Frank and Drake deserves more attention, if only for how much love and creativity went into it - it's a work of art. A playthrough only takes about three hours but you need several playthroughs to actually unravel the mystery for yourself. Luckily the playthroughs are wildly different depending on the choices you make, and even on my third playthrough I was still discovering some huge plot points I didn't even know about before. There's a lot of detail and things to discover. The experience…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I discovered the Game at Gamescom last year and was intrigued right away! The art is really beautiful and polished. The story got me hooked and at my first playthrough i wasnt able to uncover the truth, so the ending got me all ???? (Got ending 5, didnt understand why DB is the bad guy). After getting ending 1 it made much more sense and it felt nice to have this cozy ending. I still want to see all the other locations and uncover every detail. So 7 hours in, a few more to go! A detail that i…

positive · AI labelView post →A Unique Approach to the Genre. I think it's a decent game, but the story isn't really my cup of tea. Maybe the plot wasn't that bad until the supernatural part near the end of the game, but the way it's told is a bigger problem for me, as it has an overwhelming, somewhat melancholic and psychedelic atmosphere and style. Gameplay-wise, there are quite a few paths and branches, and the game itself even tells you that you need to play through it a few times to uncover the full story. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two roommates who never actually meet, only talking through sticky notes while a supernatural conspiracy slowly unravels around them. Frank by day, Drake by night, with some serious modern gothic vibes and that gorgeous rotoscoped art that just sucks you in. Branching paths, puzzles and mini-games that never overstay their welcome. A real gem of a narrative adventure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's nothing in this game that is remotely interesting to me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so confusing and disappointing. have given it 2 tries and i'm even more confused after playing for nearly 4 hours than i was when i first picked it up. controls on steam deck are nearly impossible- the cursor is pulled around making the level of accuracy needed to complete a puzzle too high. art style isn't great and makes me kind of nauseous. main complaint is that there are no instructions or hints for any of the puzzles, and no help online for all the branching endings. would definitely not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm the type to love narrative games and there are good things about this one. I loved the rotoscope animation and the soundtrack for instance. But everything else either felt like it came out of nowhere, the puzzles were confusing, the UI was annoying and having to go back through it multiple times to fully understand the plot sounds annoying, I also didn't understand the relationship system. It's not a terrible game and it has good qualities, but overall I can't recommend it, sadly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5. Frank and Drake, 155th platinum. This is a nice little game to play a couple of times to try different paths but to get the whole story, it needs 6 playthroughs which is way too much. There really isn't that much variation to justify it, even if the game is short. I did like the visuals though.
neutral · AI labelView post →I played the demo, I liked it, I bought full game. Now I gotta shelve it because of uncontrollable stream of sadness and melancholy flowing into my face, alongside beautiful stylised image and great (but way too emotional at times) soundtrack. Don't get me wrong, hyper-sad games are totally OK, but the higher the volumes of emotional involvement, the narrower it becomes in terms of captivating the audience. Frank&Drake don't know when to stop, seemingly. Simply speaking, right now I'm…
