The game has some fun ideas, but I found the implementation to be lacking. Major problems include: Poor information when picking rewards. Basic rules like "exhaust" are explained, but if a reward has an effect that "creates card " the game doesn't show you the created card. Most other deckbuilders include this information in the rewards details overlay. Combination mechanic ruined by tedium. Combining cards to make …

Skeptical buy turns out to be a happily refreshing take on the rogue-like-lite deckbuilding genre. Overall: decently balanced to challenge but allow some minor op, in a nice don't-worry-about-it-just-try-it package, no grand chess strategies needed, blast your way through space fun, some great additions help the standard pick-map-path formula from becoming stale. I'd buy a sequel if it came out, but I hope this …

What you're looking at is Slay the Spire with FTL's map progression and the artstyle of Gurren Lagann. Obviously. The game isn't subtle about its inspirations... or anything else, really. The gameplay itself is fun and easily broken, but that's not the biggest draw. The characters, story, voice work, music, and overall aesthetic presentation are shockingly well-done for something I only know about due to randomly …

Its a fun game but has some issues. The game is way too grindy, with only 3 total decks to unlock, under which you have 3 different companions that provide a bit more variety. But I had all 3 decks and companions after like 12 hours so theres almost nothing left to get. The grind to unlock new cards is overly expensive, with full runs not even leveling up enough for just a single card which doesn't add enough. The …

I loved Ota Imon's first game (Wolfstide) so I was beyond pumped to pick this up. While I do think it's a perfectly servicable game for the price, it has more flaws than I would like to see. The worst offender is the game sells itself as a "combine cards like crazy" roguelike but there are shockingly few combinations you can make in any given run. Instead of making crazy combos every turn you are more or less going to be playing basic cards which really ruins the replayablilty. It's fun for a…

I leave a negative review with a heavy heart. I absolutely L O V E the art style of this game, the music is pretty decent too. However, in my last two games I encountered bugs with the core mechanic of the game, when sometimes cards just simply refused to fuse or stack into each other, basically ruining hour long run. Also, there aren't enough opportunities presented to plan on building for a playstyle. Maybe I just haven't 'grinded' enough to unlock every content. My enthusiasm didn't last…

Artistically, this is quite an interesting game. Mechanically, it feels more like an early beta than a final release. A lot of missing information (in the fusion department, as some others have pointed out in their reviews, but also in many other areas), inaccurate effect descriptions, clunky battle UI that seems to poorly track your cursor, which makes it hard to manage large hand sizes and sometimes requires you to try the same thing a few times before the game properly registers what…

Really fun little game with an enticing game loop. Not too difficult to feel arduous and repetitive, just hard enough to get you to think. Art style is cool and the concept direction is unique and engaging; love the boss designs in particular. Music also goes hard. Great game for the price and even more worth getting when it goes on sale; give it a try!!

Super fun casual deck building. - Music is awesome, some tracks are really amazing - Characters are wacky, well written and drawn - Story is engaging and nonsensical, - Gameplay is quite original (population mechanics), some combos are broken, - Game is not balanced nor very challenging, it's more about the overall experience than a clean balanced card game I had a blast playing this game and unfolding the story. I didn't stay because of a lack of replayability / playable characters / decks…

Zet Zillions is one of those games I wish I could leave a Neutral rating, but unfortunately it leans towards negative. The art is great, the concept of the game is great, it fairly priced. BUT, the game feels like 80% there, and the last 20% would make it go from a mixed experience to a very good game. I've run into two bugs already, one where a battle was won with 'thorns' and the game didnt know how to handle it, soft locking me for like 3 turns of doing nothing before it finally realized…

I hate to leave a negative review for this game because there is so much to like here... the aesthetics are very cool and unique, the mechanic of combining cards is really interesting, and generally the game seems great... it's only when you play a few rounds that you realize that this game just isn't fun. Main issues: Card combining mechanic: super fun, except, MANY cards cannot be combined. So it's really more like a few cards have special combos. I would have liked to explore what combining…

Nicely stylized deck builder, plays like Slay the spire but has its own personality (no game is as good as Sts explaining what a card does, and that's a shame). The style supports the tone of your crew, the enemies and the idea of throwing people at your enemies as fodder, all well executed. It would be nice to see more of your crew banter, or some personal stories or quests, but what we see is enough to understand that each has its own personality. Still, a little bit more of story would be…

I got the game on a deep sale so I thought I would give it a chance despite a solid number of compelling negative reviews. I regret buying it and my time playing it. Game has only a few things going for it that are any different than a standard cookie cutter deckbuilder, but even those are pretty mediocre. I want to love this game. There is much to like. The look, the animations, the dialouge, the whole viiiiibeee that it just oozes from every moment. But the "game" part of the it has some serious problems. The number of actually valid tactics seem to be very little. And the game pushes you into no win scenarios multiple times a playtrough. Specially when it comes to a few planets in particular. Its very much about knowing what to expect, and preparing in advance, which is annoying as all hell.…

To me, there are three types of people that write reviews, those that adore the game, those that can't put their finger on the game, or those who despise the game. Me, I'm of the cadre of one who relished and relaxed in its pleasures, in all its facets, while enjoying the deepness of this narrative trombone. If you've played and beaten Wolfstride before you play this, the cliche'd trite platitude of 'if you know-you know' will inevitably float above the permeated landscape of Ota Imon and his…

I don't know how to explain it except playing a card that deals damage really does make you feel like you're punching an asteroid in the space junk. The art and presentation are great but it is wasted on a game that for the most part feels unfinished. The game is ruined by bugs and bad design choices including but not limited to: The fusion mechanic being poorly explained and what cards fuse into what being a archaic mystery until you actually add them to your deck. This makes it hard to gauge what the consequences of putting a card in your deck could be until you actually pick it - kind of important that this would not be the case…

The way it scales, the humor, the crazy dialogues, the never ending search for a cow, the mechanics, the builds, I could keep going on for hours about what I like about the game. You can probably tell from the trailer, but everything in the game is over the top. If that's a dealbreaker for you, the gameplay probably isn't gonna save things. This is more of a story driven roguelike than one I'd be inclined to play on repeat. The deckbuilding aspect isn't as deep as other games in the genre, but it's good enough to keep you going to the end of the story. If you do want to keep playing post-credits, Chaos mode is the challenge mode equivalent. The system is akin to the…

Zet Zillions is a remix of Slay the Spire with a bit of FTL: Faster then Light added on, with an extremely fun and wacky aesthetic, all capped off with a fairly enjoyable story. The actual gameplay is the usual Slay the Spire deckbuilder affair, with a twist in the form of the population mechanic, effectively a separate health bar on enemies you can fill to stagger them for a turn (or in the case of planets, win the fight with extra rewards) as well as spend with other cards for various…

There isn't much to explain about the mechanics of game like this if you understand the concept of a roguelike deckbuilder. It's good. I didn't really like it that much until after about 5 hours or so. It's similar to Slay the Spire in it's annoyances, where you need to find specific cards to make your deck strong enough to win, and you aren't always guaranteed to get what you need. There's a few pathways for decks I can see working so far, each relying on some specific core cards. Some of the art for event cards are beta art that doesn't match the rest of the game and there are plenty of bugs with no promises to fix or polish. It's fun. Approach this game as a small experiment in the genre. There's a definite beginning and end of this experience, both narratively and mechanically. You'll likely have seen all the game has to offer by the time you reach the end of the multi-run story. That's fine! Don't come into this expecting it to be your next Slay the Spire to sink hundreds of hours into. It's #wedevsday (just) and the dev on my mind is: Ota Imon Studios. Ota currently have 2 games in their catalogue (with a third on the way); their newer game, Zet Zillions, and one of my favourite (and one of the most criminally-overlooked IMO) RPGs - Wolfstride. You see, this is one of the reasons I love/hate roguelikes. You start playing them, and 12 hours later you realize your entire weekend has been eaten, and you're hardly even a 10th of the way done. Great style, great characters, fun cards, would time waste again!
