I am dead serious. This is easily the most underrated "classic" Assassin's Creed game. This game has no business being as good as it is, given it was the "backlogged/last-gen" game during the release of Unity. Yet, it's genuinely better than Unity in almost every way.

Critics, per Wikipedia

Assassin's Creed Rogue received "mixed or average" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Ray Carsillo from Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the game an 8.5/10, praising its interesting lead character, enjoyable story, new weapons introduced, new mission design, which requires players to prevent assassinations instead of carrying out assassinations like in other Assassin's Creed titles, as well as advanced and improved combat mechanics. However, he criticized poor pacing of the story, frequent bugs, lack of replayability and the lack of inclusion of a multiplayer mode. He concluded the review by saying that "Rogue is a far more pleasurable experience than I…

Short and Focused: The Perfect Franchise Spin-off Assassin's Creed Rogue is often described as "Black Flag in the Arctic," and that's both its greatest strength and its core identity. It takes the fantastic naval mechanics of its predecessor and packages them into a tighter, more focused experience with a narrative premise that remains one of the series' most intriguing. https://youtu.be/19GE57IUjfk This game is essentially a compact version of Black Flag, but with a far more centralized and…

This is mainly focused on Ubisoft requiring players to create an account or log in on their side in order to run the game at all. Aside from clicking the "I have read all of the terms" or "I agree" boxes. Why not just let the players play the game without needed to read a whole legal essay that gets updated with more vague jargon than what they would bother to look into. And heaven forbid they choose not to go ahead with that? They just dont get to play the game they paid for. There…

So this is actually one of my favorite game but I havd 14 hours of playthrough lost due to the online only DRM when my Steam deck lost Internet during an auto save. It killed replaying the series and catching up with it for me and made sure I'll never purchase a remastered title since they still use the DRM that cost me the enjoyment of the series built in to it and I'm not supporting that. Do better Ubisoft.

This game got overlooked by people due to it releasing at the same time as assassin's creed unity and that's sad because despite it being short and very similar to black flag It's good. it should've been a longer game and they could've done more with the character dynamics but they did well with how short it was Shay is a really good lead and I liked how didn't have this cliche full hatred for the assassin's but he had an actual reason to go against Achilles's mentorship. the assassin's…

I played Assassin's Creed Rogue for about 50 hours and completed the game 100%. For me, this is one of the most unusual parts of the Assassin's Creed series, because here the plot literally turns the usual game formula upside down. In most parts, we play as assassins and automatically consider them to be the right side of the conflict. In Rogue, it's the opposite. The main character, Shay Cormac, starts out as an assassin, but after certain events, he completely changes sides and starts hunting…

This is the good Ubisoft I miss. I enjoyed 95% of the game, sure its not perfect but its a real Assassin's Creed game with a point of view of a Templar. I got no urges to cut my balls off or to put a fork into the eletrical socket, unlike when I suffered something like 85 hours on AC Valhalla/Odyssey for a story that made me ♥♥♥♥ liquid for a whole week. Probably many people may not like to play as a traitor that joins the Templars, but thats because their shaft is bending 42 degrees to…

The PC port of Assassin's Creed IV was a buggy mess that at times was filled with stutter. This port, however, is great despite not being updated since release really. It runs smooth, it runs great, and it plays great. This game also in general has a gameplay loop that is Assassin's Creed IV but harder and with less content, which I thought both were positives. The few additions to the gameplay gave the stealth some of the stuff missing from the Ezio trilogy back that were absent in III and IV,…

I stopped playing the Assassin's Creed series after I couldn't get into Unity around 2015. I was totally burned out by the gameplay formula that hadn't moved much and the rapid release schedule they had going. I've been eyeing the series considering getting back in after having spent so much time away. Almost ten hours in and I think I might throw in the towel. I'm not having fun. It's a decent game, very competently made. But even after a decade of not playing the series it feels so…

Between this and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, I choose this. It improves on the naval movement and combat in every way. The environments are more varied. The combat is faster-paced. The progression is more meaningful. There are simply more mechanics and abilities across the board. Everyone playing this game - especially at the time of release - had probably played other Assassin's Creed games before it, so Ubisoft mostly glosses over the Animus explanation and blazes through the…

Storywise, it's not the best out of the Assassin's Creed Games, but gameplay wise it's more Black Flag with some of AC3's maps thrown in. Instead of the Caribbean from Black Flag this one mostly deals with the North Atlantic Ocean, the British American Colonies (hence the AC3 maps), and is set against the backdrop of the historical Seven Years War. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoyed Black Flag. Also, Ubisoft, if you guys are actually reading these, any chance Rogue can get the same…

Assassin's Creed Rogue isn't a bad game, but I wouldn't call it a great one either. The story is interesting and feels different from the other Assassin's Creed games, which I really appreciated. There are quite a few bugs, but thankfully most of them don't ruin the gameplay; they're just annoying when they happen. For some reason, finishing the story took me almost twice as long as it probably should have, but I still had fun overall. Released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, with it's counterpart Unity on PS4 and Xbox One, Assassin's Creed Rogue is an amazing installment that got shadowed by it's more grandiose counterpart. Shay is an amazing protagonist that gets to experience the shortcomings of the Assassins firsthand, and decides to take up arms against them. No pirate adventures, revolution, or other historical storyline taking over the main plot. Shay also became one of my favorite characters in the universe. Character development is insane. You basically play as someone stuck between the Templars and Assassins, and you can totally go rogue in the game — even messing with civilians or animals, which makes both sides come after you. After Assassin's Creed 3 and 4, this is a short film-style game designed to complete some of the unfinished story. The gameplay is almost identical to the others. For those who enjoy piracy, it's a lighthearted game to play after Black Flag. Beyond that, it's an interim game to be played as part of the continuation of the Animus-Abstergo story and character histories.

I have a weirdly good memory for plot points, character moments, and story arcs. I couldn't tell you anything that happened in this game just a few months out from playing it. Rogue plays exactly like Black Flag but this time is set in North America, which is NOT as fun as the Caribbean. Pleasurable and also the shortest and easiest AC game I ever played. There's ships, there's lot of things to do but its just not as exciting. The only purpose it serves is to play it right after you finish Black Flag, because you miss it so much... Another Assassin's Creed and another assassin. Honestly, if you like ships and naval battles, this game is for you. If you don't like the "Black Flag" style, skip this one and buy something else. Personally, I think the game has a unique charm, and even time hasn't diminished that, as the graphics are still beautiful and the mechanics are solid. The game is focused on action, but fans of stealth assassins will also find a place for themselves. The game is a truly interesting blend of naval…

Assassin’s Creed – One of the Most Underrated Entries This is easily one of the most underrated Assassin’s Creed games in the franchise. It delivers the same kind of simple, fun, and adventurous experience that made AC IV: Black Flag so enjoyable. The world is lively, exploration feels rewarding, and the gameplay focuses more on pure enjoyment rather than over-complication. While it may not get the spotlight, it offers solid combat, smooth movement, and that classic Assassin’s Creed charm. A…

Gameplay was fine and well optimized for low end pc. Should kept a long Campaing and Map activity like AC black Flag. Yet , it has better perspective and story plotline over the AC journey !!!

For me, Assassin's Creed Rogue is an amazing game with a very interesting story about an assassin who became a templar. This is first time where we actually get to play the other side and see their point of view showing the player that not all the assassins are good guys and not all templars are bad guys. Shay is an amazing protagonist with a tragic and sad background, marked by the death of his mother at birth, his father's frequent absence, his father's subsequent death at sea. Pretty sad,…

This is my favorite AC game just because of the complete flip of the dynamic. I played this game more than any other on my xbox being one of the few games I had gotten all the achievments. This game is just way to much fun I actually think it compares to brotherhood and black flag for the amount of time played.
