What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 25 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (44 of 67 positive).
Players find the deckbuilding gameplay satisfying and fun, especially for fans of the genre. [1][2][3] Many criticize the lack of voice acting, poor animations, and minimalist presentation. [4][5][2] Some reviewers note the game is easy and grindy, with frustrating RNG elements. [6][7][8]

🇬🇧 Asterix & Obelix: Heroes – A Missed Opportunity (But Works Well on Steam Deck) I really wanted to like this game. Asterix is a childhood hero of mine, and I'm also a big fan of deck-building games. On paper, this had everything to please me. Unfortunately, the game quickly becomes repetitive and frustrating. To unlock and evolve all characters, you have to replay the same levels over and over. The character …

Everything looks very boring, monotonous and nasty. Yes, it also looks like they wanted to make a donation dump out of it. In short, pass by and thank you that I saved your time! ^_^

I really enjoy this game, but... The wait time for animations to play out is ridiculous, music can be painful...I usually just turn it off, there's no voice acting, & the dialogue is rough though it all seems to be in character. I also don't understand why no matter who is in your party, Asterix is the player you see moving around the game board. Despite these things it's a long, fun deckbuilder card battler & I …

I recommend it, but it's a close call The gameplay is satisfying and the story dialogue is really fun (just like Asterix & Obelix comics), and effort has also been put into the visual design. But the game is mega grindy, especially if you want to unlock the bonus characters that require you to 100% the zones. It also is highly RNG dependent. RNG will decide which characters you can star up, and RNG will decide the …

As far as deck building games go, this one isn't all that bad. My biggest critique is that it's not voice acted. I think that would have added character. It's a bit of an easy one. So it f you're looking for a challenge this isn't it. This game is more of an entry into the deck building genre, but I still think it's worth a try if you enjoy this type of game.
Summarised from 29 of the 82 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 13, 2026. How summaries are made
60% of the 25 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Asterix & Obelix: Heroes. The complaint that keeps coming up: no voice acting and minimalist animations and music. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

While finishing up the "answers" section to the recent quiz, I accidentally bumped in to this panel (from *Banquet*) and was struck by how unique it was. Now, there have been plenty of times when an overconfident oaf looked to put Astérix in his place, only to be sent skyrocketing to the heavens, but in this rare case we have a solo legionary of mediocre physical build (name of "Spongefingus" in English) who's been worked in to a perfect…

Double that time if you want to collect everything Positive + 24 heroes and supporters card + iconic characters from one of the best comic book + 6 regions, 40 levels and each map have multiple path for replay + can create your own decks + can buy cards and items (items are used for temporary buffs) + low game price Negative - menu, voice, music, animation are minimalist. I've ported it to my new blog, take a look!

Deck building, card collecting and leveling, tactical battles, loot... This is all on the menu of this entertaining title that could keep you busy quite a few hours... Honestly, it was surprisingly intense and at times scary for kid me. The atmosphere is kinda dark, the Romans are COMPETENT and the map theme is still ingrained in my mind.

neutral · AI labelView post →I bought this game 75% off and still feel ripped off. Terrible game without any challenge or actual animations. What you see in the trailers doesn't even match the game. It is slow and sluggish and is certainly not made for adults. Maybe for children, but somehow I expected it would be more. At least serviceable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was fine until Rome chapter (probably a final one), but then I ran into a VERY annoying bug, where the buffs wouldn't expire - one of the enemies was permanently turned invisible (making them impossible to target), while the buff should only be up for one turn, and putting them down in a roundabout way took so long, that I used up all my healing cards, and my party had their HP so low, I was unable to progress through the follow up battles. That bug alone is frustrating enough that I…

neutral · AI labelView post →Interesting game with memorable characters true to the loved stories, but unpolished and the random spell activation chance is so strange - for example the negative effects on you will almost always trigger, but the same effect on the enemy will almost never, which sometimes can lead to great frustration. Overall easy and casual game which you will love, but wish it was something more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, considering the Asterix & Obelix XXL2 game had a Mario Sunshine roman (among other many other game parodies)... static.wikia.nocookie.net/asterix20262... Still, cool art!
neutral · AI labelView post →a pretty interesting deckbuilder, the combat has 4 characters, with 3 attackers and 1 support, which has a different deck. contrary to most games of this style, most of the progression is permanent, you can only lose the few things you collected in the map if you lose. levels aren't randomly generated and you can play them back. there is no relic system or whatever, but you can buff your heroes at campfires using some collected food items the difficulty isn't very high, and you can farm, so…

We later found out the chat cost 5ct/min (or 5 Pfennig…
neutral · AI labelView post →One of the worst designed games. On a Ultrawide 21:9 Monitor most clicks are not recognized and needed to ALT+ENTER, exit to the main menu and start the game again multiple times till mouse clicks are recognized. Almost no ingame animations and if animations they are very bad. Its the least effort someone could do for a game in general.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yk, it's a bit ironic now that I'm thinking about it, but despite being technically more powerful, the GBA is easier to emulate than the SNES. Psp'll struggle with Star Fox or Mario Kart, but if I boot something like the 3D Asterix & Obelix game on the same hardware, smooth as butter SOMEHOW.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Asterix & Obelix: Heroes is a turn-based deck-building game developed by Gamexcite and published by Nacon, aiming to bring the iconic French comic series into a new interactive form. Rather than following the brawler or platformer routes that many licensed adaptations take, this title leans heavily on card-driven strategy, letting players assemble a team of familiar heroes and build a deck of attacks, buffs, and abilities to overcome enemies. At its best, the game feels like a colorful…

neutral · AI labelView post →I would say I care less about the publisher, but the developer being from a given country can be interesting in terms of motifs and gameplay style. A lot of Microids developed games have themes related to French culture. (Post Mortem, the Fort Boyard games). And of course Asterix & Obelix (never played the games even though I have most of the comics).

But I can imagine - when we were kids, my eldest brother and I would regularly play this game at the pool where we pretended to be roman legionaries getting beaten up by Asterix & Obelix so that we can launch ourselves into the water as hard as possible.
