The game was released on September 21, 2023 for Microsoft Windows and on September 26, 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. 92% of the 181 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles. The complaint that keeps coming up: information overload and cluttered UI can be confusing. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Prior to release, Wes Fenlon of PC Gamer said that the game was "punching above its weight" for a small studio, calling its art "gorgeous" and saying that it seemed like it came from a much larger developer. He was impressed by the six possible playable characters. Ana Diaz of Polygon also called the game's characters "stunningly designed". In a review, Dominic Tarason of PC Gamer called the game's characters "adorable cartoon critter-folk", saying that the game made a "strong impression" aesthetically. Calling the soundtrack "a tad generic", but still "memorable", he described its structure as "nigh-identical to [...] trailblazer Slay The Spire", but noted that the decision to trade cards…

It wouldn't just be terrible to lose China as a producer but also as a consumer. It's a huge market that often embraces stuff overlooked elsewhere, like visual novels or niche RPGs. You have Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles on your Curator, it's a Brazilian game with over half of its reviews from China :/

Honestly, I'm quite fond of this game, although the randomness did irritate me quite a bit in the beginning. Most people compare Astrea to Slay the Spire, and I can understand where that impression comes from. However, Astrea adds enough new ideas to the formula to make it feel fresh in a genre that has started to become a little stale: roguelike deckbuilders. First, you can choose one of six Oracles, each with unique dice combinations and special features. As you progress through a run, you…

I went through about half a dozen completed runs, and I regret to admit that I am not losing much sleep over Astrea - yet another clever dice-based spin on the roguelike deckbuilder genre. There are great ideas in it: the manifold character of the corruption/purification bar and the ensuing constant incentive to play on the edge is the spark inside the bottle, but ultimately I don't feel there's that much awe to the shock. Obtuse modifiers abound, which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing,…

If you wanted even more rng in your dicedeckbuilder rougelike this game is perfect for you! Similar gameplay loop to slay the spire. Progress through branching paths, fighting enemies, powering up ect. Where it diverges the most is in two ways: an inverse damage/healing system and that your cards are dice with six sides. This game is a refreshing take on Roguelite Deckbuilders which is at least worth a try for fans of the genre. Using a bag of dice instead of a deck of cards allows you to weigh not only your desired method of play and odds of drawing the tool you need when you need it, but also degree of risk tolerance. There are in general "safe" dice with low-level positive effects on all sides, "balanced" dice with moderate positive effects on four sides and negative effects on two, and "risky" dice with…

First off, I think Astrea has its charm! The idea of using a random deck of dice instead of cards with exchangeable faces with various effects is certainly novel. Also, the idea of healing and damaging based on who it is cast on is also very interesting. There are moments where you may want to take intentional damage to activate your abilities at low health. The problem is the information overload. I think Astrea could use a better UX design for players to easily tell what each die face does.…

I am a huge fan of the genre (over 800 hours in Slay the Spire, and I played many other games inspired by it too). And I like to see refreshing takes on the genre. This game is fantastic and each patch seems to make it better and more balanced. Beautiful art and music, and the combats are varied and challenging. If you want technical, intensely thoughtful play, with more of a visceral thrill than StS, this is your game. I've never yelled so loudly and with such joy (or such frustration) at a roguelike deck builder before. I beat the game on my first run. And judging by how much "start of run gifts" you get when you reach level 1 of the progression system, you're not supposed to do that. I know that the goal of this kind of game is replayability and unlocks. But beating the game on your first attempt and in less than an hour?... I'm already debating refunding this.

Slay the Spire folks may not love this game, because of all the randomness related to rolling dice. Yes, you can mitigate the bad dice via deckbuilding but it doesn't eliminate it completely. Whereas in Slay the Spire, you can heavily optimise your deck, you can't do that 100% in this game. The game is beautifully crafted, with a BGM that is easy on the ears. There is enough build diversification in each unlocked character that you can still have fun playing through it. Recommended to get it…

Astrea is a great twist on the run-based deckbuilder. The core duality of the heal/damage system is super novel - it gives the player a lot to think about in terms of planning and risk/reward. Though the game is dice-centric, I think it provides more than enough ways to mitigate RNG and bad luck (like forging new dice faces, passing off damage onto different targets, discarding dice, rerolling, etc.), so most of the time strategy and careful decision making still win the day. The six…

Great card/dice-building game. At its core, the game is about balance. Corruption (damage) and purification (healing) apply in opposing ways to yourself and enemies, so the same card effects you can use to defeat enemies can heal yourself. Everything being based in dice means there is a lot of RNG but it makes for an interesting design where everything, even "bad" rolls, tend to have their own uses. You want to intentionally take corruption (damage) as much as you can without hitting 0 so you…

This is one of the few games so far that i have 100% completed if that's to say anything about what i think of the game. But to give a full description if you'd like to read it: This has become a new favorite game of mine and i absolutely recommend it if you like roguelike games or deckbuilding games. I bought it when it was on sale mostly cause i enjoy roguelikes and found the artstyle quite appealing and i do not regret my purchase whatsoever, to give my verdict more in depth: What i…

Great concept but dull execution. Needed more time in the oven.

What a wonderful game. Takes a lot of nods from Slay the Spire, but with just as many if not more completely unique and novel mechanics that add so much (the corruption meter tug-of-war is genius!). Each character is totally distinct and add a few of their own mechanics to boot. Not to mention an absolutely lovely art style and delightful (if slight) story! Honestly this is one of my favorite obstacles to hurdle when I’m posing Lala Jolyn with Astrea. It’s like I’m making a little game out of it

The most beautiful game soundtrack I have ever heard!? Visually stunning as well. Game's been out for 3 years and getting regular balancing updates, and they just dropped a massive anniversary content update. If this isn't love, then I don't know what is.
