Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 251 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,694 of 2,000 positive).
Players praise Bloodshed as a fun blend of boomer shooters and survivor-likes. [1][2][3] Many note the game is short and lacks content, feeling unfinished. [4][5][6] Some reviewers find it too easy and repetitive for genre veterans. [7][8][9]

Bloodshed has a lot going for it, but it's not great. It perfectly captures the 90s shooter aesthetic of a proper Doom clone and has pretty good B-movie characters and voice acting, but it doesn't have much variety or depth. There aren't really "builds" because there are so few things to put points into, and like six of the weapons objectively suck. The characters are about as different from eachother gameplay-wise …

Just 100% completed the game and I must say it was an awesome ride! + Great entry level roguelite shooter + Awesome art + Good variety of guns, spells and abilities + Customizable runs + Smooth and action packed gameplay + Decent roster of characters + Cool soundrack + Easy to 100% - Too casual and easy for veterans of the genre - Can get repetitive, especially when you complete all chapters - Could use a bit more …

It's fun. I'm dissapointed that it doesn't have more to do, but considering that I put thirty hours into it that's not a bad thing, I'd rather have a game leave me wanting more I guess. There's just potential for some more really good stuff here. The movement and gunplay is super satisfying and it's the best at translating frantic 90's shooter action into the whole survivor genre that I've seen so far. It just kind …

Bloodshed feels like someone threw DOOM and Killing Floor into a blender and hit ULTRA VIOLENCE. Retro shooter vibes, endless monster hordes, and upgrades stacking until the screen turns into pure chaos. Fast, gory, addictive, and dangerously easy to say “One more run." DOOM x Killing Floor energy with roguelite madness. 🔥💀

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a personal gripe, don't take this review seriously. I also didn't get too far, but it struck me enough to pause what I was doing and give my opinion. There is an anti-camping mechanic in the game where if you're in a spot too long, the game will warn you with a little tent bar at the top and if not responded to, summon a constant moving spell that you have to outrun (it's not hard). It will damage you pretty harshly if you don't move far enough. I ran into this cause in the second…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is almost a good game, with a solid foundation and pitch-perfect atmosphere, but it's simply unfinished. This is the kind of game begging for years of maintenance and expansions, but it seems to have been rushed and abandoned. Side gripe: Why are the old man's voice lines nothing but making fun of being old?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea of making Vampire Survivors game as a first-person shooter was absolutely brilliant. I'm amazed at how simple and addictive it is and despite the repetitive roguelike nature of the game, it keeps you coming back again and again. Tons of enemies, blood, guts, kills, explosions, crazy spells: when you upgrade the character you need, the game turns into a bulletstorm orgy. I love everything about it, from the chosen style and the "potato" old-school graphics to the voice acting and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool idea but sadly has some annoyances that make it a bit hard to enjoy, especially as a roguelite: -very gated meta progression that feels unnecessarily slow, -terrible balance of weapons/upgrades, -very lengthy stages with not much going on. Fun for the first 2-3 hours, but after that, it gets boring rather quickly. The artstyle is cool though and I liked the RE4 reference.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I might play this a bit more in the future, I don't hate it or anything, but I need to be completely and totally transparent with you if you're planning on getting this. This is a mixture of Vampire Survivors and classic boomer shooters like Doom and Blood, but it EXPONENTIALLY leans in way more to being a VS game, and I think that's massively to the game's detriment. The first red flag is the game has automatic-shooting on by default, like what kind of FPS fan on gods green earth wants the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game ngl Fun, variety of weapons and spell so you can make your own 'builds'. Of course, everything is related how lucky you are to get that specifically weapon/spell. Characters designs and mechanics are awesome Achievements are relativity easy to do it. In game task are great! Nightmare difficulty is hella fun ! If I had to add / change something from the game, it would be: More Spells, something like a bless/curse. 'You get This but we take off that.' More maps Add more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shakin' my head. Too many people saying this game reminds them of DooM (or Quake. How.) when this game is obviously inspired by Blood (1997). The second character you get is a legally distinct Caleb. Maybe a little Hexen/Heretic. Maybe a little Diablo. I bought this game for $3.24. At that price, the game is a steal. It's not very deep strategically, but this entire genre isn't. It was made for people stoned out of their gourd to sit on their couch and press directional buttons while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be great someday but it isn't really today and likely won't be which sucks. The themeing the premise and the idea were on point but the execution, at the moment, is just not there. It definitely could be there though, if it weren't abandoned by the dev that is. Bloodshed tries to blend elements of survivorlikes with elements of boomer shooters and to me it fails at both at the same time, trying to gleam gameplay mechanics from both but ultimately fails to connect these two genres in any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this game for a bit, but there is very little content. You can describe It as a rougelite boomer shooter, and leave it at that. It was a bit of an acquired taste, but I was enjoying it. The problem is, I started to have a really good time, and then I realized there is just not any more game left to progress through! The campaign menu bar spans the entire screen, with card like sections to choose from, yet there's only 3 "campaigns", leaving obvious blank spots for planned…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →negatives: - it's trivially easy - picking a second gun mid-mission always seems suboptimal, because you can only use one gun at a time? I might just be misunderstanding but that seems very strange that it works that way instead of the game letting you pick one gun at the start - instead of being mono, the sound of the weapons is somewhere behind the player. I find this very annoying - chest animations are long and frequent. it's weird that there's no way to skip them - balance is all over the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Sadly, I have to give this a thumbs down at this point. It is amusing at first but having a 20 min long run as second level was an odd choice. I have tried it several time and even with a few (way too expensive) upgrades, it is not possible. This is not FUN any more repeating the same level half a dozen times.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killing Baal and Moloch's followers (Israelis) simulator. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely unfinished at best. If the game as it is is the complete vision, then it's a failed experience. I like the idea in theory, merging the aesthetic and certain gameplay aspects of Doom with a Vampire Survivors type game, but the levels are too long and monotonous. You fight mostly the same enemies that post no challenge. The upgrades and spells are useless and not fun to use. I think there is a way to make this game fun, but this game isn't in early access, it's a full…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two chapters have art on the campaign screen. The rest of that bar holds empty card slots where more episodes were supposed to go, and the last balance patch shipped in July 2025. Bloodshed shoots well enough that the empty slots hurt. The pitch is a 1994 shooter welded to the Vampire Survivors level-up loop: pick one of seven heroes, drop into a walled slab of gothic architecture, and turn cultists into paste while a perk screen interrupts you every half minute. The combination holds for six…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has the potential to be decent. However, it fails to reach that potential. I love many aspects of this game, the art, character and map designs, and even its concept. Everything falls apart because of its balancing, upgrading, and spell systems. First, the option to use multiple guns is ONLY for one's own satisfaction, not out of necessity. For example, you may wanna play some Samurai b1tch but wanna use other guns, and that's possible. This is the only reason you may want to waste…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed – Noise Without Depth Bloodshed looks intense and plays well enough, but that’s about where the praise ends. The gunplay functions, the enemies explode, and the screen fills with chaos. None of it adds up to anything memorable. Combat is serviceable but shallow. After a few runs, you’ve effectively seen everything the game has to offer. Enemy variety is minimal, builds blur together, and progression relies too heavily on RNG to feel earned. When the game gets hard, it doesn’t feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a lot of fun but I am giving it a negative review because it is supposedly steam deck verified but it runs like straight trash on steam deck. I'm talking below 30 fps frequently. No amount of tweaks with the graphics settings made this run well on my deck. The old school aesthetic is great but it would be nice if the game ran well too. Valve needs to get serious with the steam deck verification system, as it is now it is wholly unhelpful in determining if a game runs well on the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No fun progression. No interesting synergies with any weapons ( you just use 1 weapon during a whole run cuz you dont want to spend points on any other weapons). Boring Character abbilities. The healing on the ground is OP and ruins the run by trivializing the whole game. See no reason to continue playing, it just aint fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We already have that and it's called PowerKill, from 1999, about recontextualizing a Dungeon Crawler as home invasion. Also, Violence: The Role-Playing Game of Egregious and Repulsive Bloodshed from 1999, and is PowerKill without the Meta narrative. And both sound better than this, lol
neutral · AI labelView post →For those that gave negative reviews saying it's too easy, I can literally see your play time and achievements - you've barely played the game and have unlocked next to nothing, to include the custom game mode that lets you increase the difficulty. Game is simple and fun at first but gets more intense as you start achievement hunting (which is a challenge but fun). I'm not at 100% yet, but I'm close and this game is absolutely worth the few dollars in exchange for how many more hours of fun…

It has all the right unc vibes. The graphics, from the enemy sprites, the characters, and environments, are straight uncle-bait. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed is an FPS bullet heaven game that’s equal parts DOOM and vampire survivors. While shallow in content, the gameplay is precise and fun, making it absolutely worth picking up at a deep discount. Gib enemies with a sawed off, or create a storm of magic spells, all in the service of ripping and tearing until it is done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As usual, I wish STEAM had a sideways thumb. BLOODSHED is an okayish spin on the VAMPIRE SURVIVORS formula as seen from the 1st person. It is pretty much a paint-by-numbers affair: Everything you'd expect is here, all the archetypes of this kind of game, the shotguns, the spells that do area damage etc... It is well made and you can sink a few hours into it. However, there's simply nothing here that's unique or original. And what's worse: The game tends to overstay its welcome with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed is a fun concept. A first person style vampire survivor. It's kind of like Doom if it had an infinite mode. And I really want to like this game. It just feels a bit boring. The weapons don't have any oomph to them, so it doesn't feel like anything to shoot enemies down. And you can switch between weapons. They don't all fire out at once like vampire survivor. But I often found myself questioning what was the point of switching. This is an auto shooter with the option to turn off…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed had the potential to be a fun, old school first person horde survival game, but sadly falls short due to critical flaws in its core mechanics. While the game's 3D old style shooter aesthetic is executed well and sets the perfect stage for a frantic experience, the central gameplay elements fail to deliver, the core mechanics specifically the bland, non synergistic item system result in a repetitive and ultimately boring horde survival experience. The game needs a significant overhaul…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm on the fence about recommending this one. Overall, I'd say it's an above-average game, at least for my taste. The old-school visuals are appealing, movement and combat feel smooth and satisfying, and I didn't encounter any bugs during my playthrough. What I found lacking was depth and variety. There's no real story to speak of - it's all about combat, and the gameplay mechanics don't offer enough variety to keep things interesting in the long run. Once you've unlocked everything, there's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed looks great in screenshots and feels decent for the first hour, but the systems underneath it fall apart fast, and the developer has clearly moved on. The last update was on 4 October 2025. Whatever is broken now is what you're buying, so don't go in expecting fixes. What actually killed it for me: You realistically use one weapon per run. Upgrade points are scarce enough that spreading them across a second gun just makes both of them bad. So the "extensive arsenal" collapses into…

neutral · AI labelView post →while very rough, this does a good job of synthesizing the experience of a vampire survivor with the fundamentals of a boomer shooter. It's too short, its balanced pretty terribly, and the shooting can get pretty samey, but the core gameplay is, almost despite itself, the same mindless addictive number-go-up experience that a good vampire survivor knockoff has. I'd say def get it on sale.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mid game, cool idea horrible execution. weapons are hit or miss and a lot of the upgrades feel useless only worth it on a very steep discount with the intent to play something for 3-4 hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bloodshed was a really fun surprise. The gameplay is fast, chaotic, and satisfying, making it easy to lose track of time during a run. It honestly reminded me of Megabonk, which is a big reason why I enjoyed it so much
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the concept of this game but just can't really get into it. None of the weapons I used felt particularly fun. It feels kind of like a boomer shooter modded to have a vampire survivor like gameplay loop but you only got bits and pieces from both. So it just feels all around lacking.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never normally leave a review and love this type of game but the performance is terrible. Tried the demo and it had the same issue but 1.0 release was meant to fix it. Tried the full game and same issues, stutters every 15 seconds or so. Drops from 144 fps to 60, can't tell if it's on firing the gun or the game spawning new enemies but currently not worth playing and no updates or fixes in sight.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For $12.38 USD, I cannot recommend it. Get it when its on sale, I personally got it at $2.69 USD. Holy this game is short and isn't challenging at all. There isn't that many levels and the challenge stages reuse some of the levels. The bosses are TERRIBLE and pose legitimately no threat, cause all you need to do is watch for some of the SLOWEST attacks I have seen in a video game. Lastly, there isn't any fun to the builds since nothing really fits together. Compared to other Survivor games,…

Only thing I dislike so far is not being able to control how long the rounds are, makes it less appealing for more time-limited gameplay sessions. Although some of the characters one-liners are a bit cringe and repetitive. You can't deny the style, gameplay and design elements though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very nice first person shooter survivors game that lets you shut your brain off so much that it has an option in the settings for auto fire. I don’t mean auto fire as in it’ll fire nonstop but like a hitscan hack. Point at an enemy and when your reticle detects an enemy it just shoots. In one way this is great for really turning your brain off, but in another way it means you can’t really make use of strategic explosives since you can’t control your fire, but still the option is there…

A kajillion enemies? Gore all abound? Too many effects to keep your vision intact? Funky maidens who kinda moan whether they kill or get hit? All check. And not gonna lie, it's dumb slobbering fun.
