Players widely praise Bomb Rush Cyberfunk as a worthy successor to Jet Set Radio. [1][2][3][4] Many highlight the excellent soundtrack and stylish visuals. [5][6][7][8] Some reviewers find the gameplay shallow or repetitive. [9][10][11]

5/10 The gameplay is honestly just boring. The movement is fun at first, but it gets repetitive really fast and ends up feeling way too easy and shallow. You only get a tiny bit of actual gameplay before the game throws another long, unskippable and uninteresting story segment at you. Combat feels annoying more than anything, and like everything else, it’s just mashing the same three button over and over. There’s …

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate Jet Set/Grind Radio. It has maybe my favorite audio/visual style in just about any game ever, but it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ miserable to play. Random difficulty spikes, awful controls, especially with the camera, so much missable content, plenty of mediocre characters that suck just to unlock, and a lot more. Bomb Rush Cyberpunk is if Jet Set was actually a good game. It is just as stylish and cool as Jet Set, …

This is better than Jet Set Radio....There I said it. It simply is a whole heap of fun and has an easier learning curve and better progression than JSR, Soundtrack is amazing from the chilled Hip Hop to the funky beats, Boss battles and fighting in general are pretty decent but the chaining of combos and graffiti are absolutely sublime. Get it at full price as it's that good. Even more so if it is in a sale.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk absolutely nails the Jet Set Radio energy I've been craving for years — the movement feels incredible once it clicks, and I found myself grinding rails and chaining combos just for the sheer joy of it long after the story was done. The soundtrack is a genuine banger, the cel-shaded visuals are stunning, and the whole package has this rare quality where every element just fits together perfectly. …

A fantastic spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio that nails the look, gameplay, style, and sounds to create a fun new product. Play as Red, part man, part machine, working with a local graffiti gang to take over all five boroughs of New Amsterdam by tagging over existing graffiti from rival gangs in order to gain rep, then engage in a crew battle performing tricks via skateboard, rollerblades, or BMX bike to get the …

94% of the 234 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. The complaint that keeps coming up: gameplay can feel shallow and repetitive. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. The game was praised for its gameplay, visual style and soundtrack. Critics were divided on its similarity to Jet Set Radio, with some viewing its similarities as a faithful continuation of its inspirations, and others criticizing it as being unoriginal. Its combat system and tricking mechanics also received some criticism from reviewers. Lucas White of Shacknews praised the variety of the skating trick system, calling it "tons of fun", but also criticized it as he felt its simplicity encouraged button mashing. White additionally criticized the "awkward" combat, but…

positive · AI labelView post →I want to get past this boring Mall portion of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, but they did not adequately prepare me as a player to generate 100,000 points in 60 seconds general game design rule: dont put timers in games, they stress people out, they're not fun, they are a false form of urgency.

Team Reptile really created a Precious Thing when they made this game to the point that I almost had to take Two Days Off of work to keep playing it. It has a banger soundtrack, fun characters Team Reptile's, at this stage iconic, look. It has just enough world building to be interesting. Unfortunately the game also feels like it plays it extremely loose and hinges too much on aforementioned aesthetic. The design of the game ultimately feels like it doesn't "go" anywhere;…
