What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 70 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (94 of 109 positive).
Players praise the unique blend of deckbuilding and match-3 mechanics. [1][2][3] Some find the game challenging and rewarding, with deep strategic elements. [4][5][6] A few reviewers criticize the slow pace and tedious fights. [7][8][9]

It's... alright. It combines two of my favorite genres into a competent, delightful package, but it just lacks that oomph factor that beckons "just one more round!" The biggest issue I have is the slog; fights can take forever, with some enemies buffing every round or making copies of themselves while you wait for two RNGs to line up: both your card draw and the board draw. It's like a see-saw where you have the …

It's easy to mistake Demon's Mirror for just another Slay the Spire clone. It's not afraid to wear it's inspiration on its sleeve, for sure, but the interaction between cards and the match-3 board make for something special and unique. You can get really strategic in setting up combos, and you need to because each encounter is tough. I was a big fan of the original Puzzle Quest, using spells and abilities to …

I already had a lot of fun with the demo and the full game doesn't disappoint. This is not just another slay the spire clone. It combines known elements from Puzzle Quest/Ironcast and Slay the Spire into something special. And most importantly - something fun! Your have to juggle between traditional card play and match 3 puzzles and many cards can manipulate the puzzle grid in interesting ways. It definitely …

very replayable, and enjoyable. Great artwork and sound. I wouldn't say it's the hardest game to beat, so if you like brutality this is not for you - but that's why I love it. Now that I've beaten it, I'll be adding the modifiers to make it more difficult (the difficulty seems highly adjustable!). I got this game at full price, and will TOTALLY be getting my moneys worth. Got this to play while I'm sick at home, and …

TLDR: Decent CCG with a unique matching board concept. Largely fails to impress due to majority of cards being subpar for deck mechanics. PROS: ✅Interesting gameplay mechanics with the matching board ✅Solid deck themes ✅Good “Customizable” difficulty CONS: ➖The matching board attacks can be too punishing at times ➖Uncreative from a roguelike card perspective (Almost a copy of Slay the Spire) ➖Double the RNG with …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome idea, very clunky and boring. It makes me irrationally angry that the developer had such a wonderful concept, but somehow managed to make it unfun to play. Costs 2 energy to do the match 3, but you only start with 3 energy? Why doesn't it just cost 1? Why is every single fight tedious and boring? At least the things blatantly copied from Slay the Spire are decent, but it's just not enough to save this game in it's current state. I really hope either this developer figures it out and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most other games have done this genre better. The chain 3 mechanics are...interesting, but ultimately, they slow the run down, and they're not all that captivating. Kudos for trying to break free from the conventional, but it's not for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting mix of deckbuilder and match-3. Surprisingly deep, after 50 hours I still find myself thinking "wait, I could have done better by doing this..." The game is rather on the difficult side, but not too punishing so far even at Ascension 7. The game could benefit from additional content, in its current version I keep running into the same enemies, bosses, events. There are also not a lot of boss relics to choose from, etc. but it's still enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game. It's got different elements to the game play so you're not doing the same thing over and over. You can also choose different strategies by the upgrades and cards you select along the adventure. This game has lot's of replayability.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A superb game that adds a new "gimmick" to the deck builder roguelite in the way of the match 3 board. Careful use of both your deck and the tile board are required in order to progress. The game takes a few runs to get into (I lost my first 3) but offers a good but beatable challenge rather than spamming a select few cards. The tile board also has enemy tiles that if left alone can damage you, curse you, heal the enemy or give them block... as well as a few other tricks on the bosses.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and Lazy Review Fuse Slay the Spire with a chain-3 game, and you have Demon’s Mirror. Key note. Chain-3, not Match-3. With Match-3, you swap the position of board symbols to create a 3, 4 or 5 block. With Chain-3, you drag a line through as many symbols of the same kind as you can, so long as they are adjacent, orthogonally or diagonally. Concise Review Set aside the chain-3 board temporarily, and Demon’s Mirror follows the Slay-a-like formula closely. # Begin with a starter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a great combination of slay the spire and grid connect games. There's plenty challenge and replayability even if you're already used to these games mechanics. The artwork is cool and original (but my opinion is skewed since it's done by my brother). If you hesitate, try the free demo!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The deckbuilder genre is heavily saturated and afraid to innovate from its core formula. This game is fun, but I don't think the tile-matching is enough to overcome what is essentially the exact same problem-solving set in StS. The tile matching is a fun gimmick but the game focuses too much on the admittedly boring cards at the beginning of each run (pay 1 mana gain 4 shield, pay 1 mana deal 4 dmg etc.) and not enough on the games core feature of tile-matching. And I don't think a game where…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really cool mix of Slay the Spire and tile-chaining games like Dungeon Raid and Wargames: WOPR.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun with rewarding effects and very deep strategical elements!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR This is an enjoyable enough deckbuilder with a twist of chaining items on a board for resources, but with a direct competitor like Across the Obelisk out there, the slower pace of runs, the less innovative map design, lack of character progression, and anemic storylines, you will get the most enjoyment if you prefer the revealed mechanics of new cards and items that happen after multiple runs in the game. Longer version: This is a deckbuilder that clearly has been built on the legacy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of a kind roguelike deckbuilder. It combines a connect-3 board with deckbuilding. Each turn you have a number of energy, and you spend that energy either on using your cards, or on chaining on the board. Rest follows the typical Slay The Spire formula. Move through the map with battles, random events, deck management and campsites.. 3 classes which have different mechanics. Enemies telegraph their turn, which goes after yours. And keeping your deck thin. It's quite difficult though,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Slay the Spire but also Bejeweled" isn't a combination that would have ever occurred to me, but here it's executed excellently!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A thumbs up for the game and a sprinkle of #Ad I guess :P A well deserved one though, for an amazing channel/community Been waiting to try Demon's Mirror since I saw it played on Esty8nine's channel some time ago, it has been on my wishlist for quite a long time and it turned out to be an amazing game! A thumbs up 100%. If you are reading this please try the demo, you will get a good idea about the game. It is a little short in my opinion. You do not get to see how a fully built deck…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just had to pause and write a review. I played the hell out of the demo and am stoked for the full release. This game is so well thought out with both methods of play working with each other it's amazing no one did this sooner. I love both grid-chaining puzzlers and card battlers and here they are in one! There are sooo many synergies it's insane. Going back in, kudos to the devs for such an awesome game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really fun deckbuilder roguelite. the grid-chaining puzzle elements fit in really smoothly, the art and music are good, and the whole premise is just really charming EDIT ok i'm 20hrs in and this game is addictive. there is so much complexity to explore, so much depth to the tactics, so many weird trinket combos to try... every run i'm thinking about my next run. the music keeps playing in my head long after i quit the game and i like it. i've noticed a few very minor bugs but they're hardly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a fun game! It basically mix deckbuilder with a match-3-like ressource collection mechanic(it's more about moving pieces and doing the longest connection of the ressource you need in one go), and it DO succeed at making that formula works well in a way that feel cohesive and not artificial. each of the 3 character have significantly different gameplay and even thought the simpler character sounds like the best solution, the more complex one ended up being more fun to play as, without…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good deck building roguelike. The matching adds an extra level of depth that's very welcome. I've played so many games in this space and they often feel overly similar, this one feels fresh and new. I highly recommend it if you like Slay the Spire, Dreamquest, etc. Also the art is incredibly charming. It all feels very good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only done a couple runs, but loving this game so far. Basically is slay the spire with a tile matching twist added into it which makes for some really interesting builds and battle strategies. Strong recommend if you like Slay the Spire, Cobalt Core, etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played in a few Beta's and It's been cool to see this release in a complete 1.0 package!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tighter, harder, and more mentally demanding Slay the Spire clone whose big gimmick feature is a match 3 taking up half the screen that can be used with your energy instead of playing cards to gain damage, block, build meter, unlock character abilities, etc. and honestly the blend of the two seems JUST barely not fluid but thats a hard thing to judge - the two elements definitely do not detract from one another.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoying Demon's Mirror? We'd love it if you could leave a review of the game on Steam! But don't take our word for it, check out this real conversation between two real Demon's Mirror fans! store.steampowered.com/app/1600910/...
neutral · AI labelView post →Good cardbattler. Wish it had an option to sell cards in shops.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid card battler rougelike with chain-3 mechanic. The Slay the Spire inspiration is obvious, but the inclusion of the chain-3 grid really adds to the decision making and puzzling out each turn. The game can be quite challenging, and some cards and enemies could probably do with a few small tweaks, but the vast majority of the content and core gameplay is very solid and exceptionally polished. I also want to say that the music has been excellent and card art is fantastic, especially ones with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really interesting mix of your classic deckbuilder (StS style) with tiles chaining mechanics. Choosing when to play which side is very important. Plays great on Steam Deck. Only downside is that there is no way to quickly switch from cards to tiles. The music is also great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle Quest meets Slay the Spire? Okay, I'm in. My first run took almost 40 minutes and I really enjoyed how they blend the Match3+ game play with deck-building. And since the chains cost you energy that you would also use to play cards, it adds both resources AND complexity to each fight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Interesting combo of genres rolled up into this game. A great deal of strategy is involved in trying to make it through to the end of a run. Wonderful art. Would definitely recommend to fans of Rouglikes and Deckbuildering.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refreshing take
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun, interesting mechanics with the chaining stuff Edit: Won the entire thing for the first time after about 5 tries. I saw some discussions saying that it's a bit too hard but I think it's just right. If it's too hard there are modifiers to make it a bit easier. I'd like it to be a bit harder but that's easy to do with the modifiers you unlock.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, now I feel bad I called out the devs for missing VSync option, the game is definitely good (was impressed last night it's pretty smooth on Steam Deck), so I am just gonna turn this review into positive, cause they responded promised to add VSync soon. Also, Match3, that's not a predatory mobile game with billion micro transactions AND it's a rogue like game for just 20 bucks? The world is slowly healing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having beat the true ending to Demon's Mirror I think it's a great game. But it can be quite hard to play. You get a choice of three characters and there's two ways to beat your opponents (and yes, you will almost always be outnumbered). One is making use of the cards and the other is matching tiles. You need to make use of both to actually beat the game but you really have to control how much either action costs. It's not easy but in comparison to some others (like Banner of Ruin) this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive — and really smart! If you like a tough but fair puzzle game with great atmosphere and a ton to discover, don’t hesitate to pick this up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very satisfying match3 addition! transforming tiles to combine massive chains for massive combos is very addictive :-D This game deserves more reviews and is very deep and ambitious. Well done!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a big fan of these types of games, and since the release of Slay the Spire, the Deckbuilding Roguelike genre has been done to death with the same concept over and over again. There's a few good ones out there, and far more 'meh' ones. Demon's Mirror has been a refreshing take on a genre that's been frankly overdone. A second facet to combat makes things very different, and I've been having a great time with this game. Be warned, however, as this game is NOT easy at first, but that's not a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fantastic and surprising mish-mash of genres. If you're a Slay the Spire fan, this is your next obsession. Three completely unique characters complement a varied and unique gameplay system. The match-3 is fantastically integrated. I only wish that there were more ways for the match-3 to affect the cards. I've had a great time with Demon's Mirror.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good in a middle-of-the-pack sense, and worth picking up. It takes a little too long to unlock the things that really set the characters apart from each other, leaving a bland first impression. This takes a little explaining, but essentially the player can use the symbol board for their action at a two energy cost, with cards running the typical 0-3 cost for the most part (noting that players very typically have four or more energy to spend in a turn). The characters largely differ…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slay the Spire + Match 3 = AWESOME!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cheap version of Slay the Spire. Copies a lot from that game, while adding a puzzle that just hampers you most of the time because it is completely luck based. Basically, a much worse version of Slay the Spire. Just buy Slay the Spire or Monster Train, this game is not worth the time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really diff take on STS type of game, it looks clean and cute has some challenge to it already without adding modifiers. Gonna get to a poiint where i wish there was more than 3 classes though cos its fun :) Would recommend for anyone who likes STS to give this a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play Time: 28.9hrs Achievements: 33 out of 36 Date/Version: January 3rd 2026 / Patch Oct 18th 2024 Rating: 7.0 out of 10. Demon's Mirror is a deck-building, match many (not match 3), roguelike game. There's a strong possibility you've played other match 3 games, this on the other hand adds some additional twists, and infuses itself with other genres. You have 3 unique characters to choose from who have a variety of builds, some have more builds than others. But like any game, some builds are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An oddly addicting mix of card play and tile matching. The game takes some strategy to complete the boards. Definitely a way to lose hours at a time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really captures the gameplay and deckbuilding power creep of its inspiration, Slay the Spire. It has a lot of interesting and fun mechanics that make it really hard to put down. The art is something else: all the characters and art make it look like it was made by some bottom-tier developer who was contracted to develop a game featuring your favorite 2000's-era fast food mascot characters. That said, the animations are really nice and even if everything looks really cheesy, there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is boring. It seems interesting at first but all the fights are a slog and the cards are uninteresting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great combination of two genres. I love how easy it is to play with a controller as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite interesting mix of chain-3/match-3 with roguelike deckbuilder. Sharing the same pool of energy, you have to be playing cards and chaining tiles, being the most interesting part of the game deciding which one is more convenient to use and when. The deckbuilding mechanics are pretty default and not that engaging, but you have a bunch of new extra stats to make some use of the more unique part of the game, which I think is a great idea, because it is the more interesting part here. You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun game. There isnt a mass amount of cards and there's a few intended build types for each character, but I find that much easier to understand and play than a huge array of styles and builds.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is Slay the Spire with a Match 3 element provided. It works a lot like StS ... different paths, creature battles, random events, and campfires for healing, and shops for upgrading. During battles, the match 3 board allows you to attack, power spells, gain shields, etc. You draw cards for attack, defense and skills. Some of those cards can change the board around to allow for more powerful combos. The enemy can also add bad tiles to the board that you need to destroy or take some…
