This feels like a tough one to not recommend. . . but I became bored with this one so quickly that I cannot recommend it for others who share my tastes. The premise behind this game is really compelling and this game almost gets a recommend for doing something structurally different. In a crowded deckbuilder genre, Moonsigil Atlas does a great job of distinguishing itself with a fun card-playing mechanic that evokes tile laying board games. There’s a little bit of a feel of puzzle solving for some combats, but in general it has a very fast-paced game feel. The three characters are all quite distinct and fun to play too, but you’ll probably find a favorite. The game follows the 4-act structure on …

A unique twist on a genre plagued by generic entries and mild innovations. Moonsigil Atlas adding a spacial puzzle element to its gameplay really makes it sing. One of my favorite elements though has to be how fun it feels to die via your own hubris. In the game's current state, I can't recommend it. It's fun, but the balance is completely out of whack. The third character is overwhelmingly more powerful than the other two early on, which allows him to snowball even harder without trying. He needs to be included in whatever inevitable balance pass happens. The third titan is impossible to beat with rapid fire builds. There are literally booster packs labelled …

I hate it when games move goalposts like that. After beating it once, it told me to beat it twice more to win. I did it. Instead of giving me the final fight then and there, the game had the nerve to demand that I beat it again, but bring a few astral gems with me next time. You think you're Ghosts 'n Goblins, you greedy knave!? Why couldn't you just serve me the final boss!? Why couldn't you tell me I needed the gems beforehand? Even then, people say the final boss requires a very particular…

Definitely one of the more interesting roguelike deckbuilders. Sadly, I couldn't recommend this game to folks who just want to play to unwind... because it's way too dank - this is a specialist's game. I've noticed over 10 hours the mental exhaustion from all the rotating & fitting I was doing with the pieces. And while the artwork is super nice (reminds me a little of Astrea) but it all looks the same, besides all characters having their own RGB color scheme. It also doesn't help there's no…

7/10 – I don’t even like deckbuilders, but this one tricked me into becoming a grid wizard. Cards don’t just play, they TETRIS themselves into reality. I’m stacking sigils like a raccoon with a PhD in geometry. Infinite combos, zero brain cells left. I broke the game and felt mildly educated doing it. ✨ Follow me for spatial chaos, forbidden card geometry, and builds that look illegal but feel like poetry in motion. 🃏📐✨ https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/

Editing my review from positive to negative. The overall game is good but I am so tired of devs not releasing games with proper save system. The game says 'SAVE AND EXIT' , I expect the game to save my progress. This is a roguelike, but certain fights CAN BE VERY LONG. I don't have time to sit through an entire boss fight all the time and would love to just exit and start backup where I left off. This game doesn't use save files but auto-saves, so there is zero excuse why this isn't the…

The idea combining genres is novel, but ultimately it became boring quick. The biggest fun killer was the requirement to play defensive cards in specific region while enemies spam "can't place a block here", which led to the overall pool of choices for positioning being rather low. In return, rather than a strategic card / puzzle game, it felt like a kid's "match match shapes in colours", minus the colors... Talking about colors, visibility is BAD: Light-transparent-blue on…

This is honestly one of the best deck builders I've ever played. This game is the perfect blend of strategy game, and spatial awareness. There's so many deck types, combo's, infinites, and ways to just break the game open that every run is unique and fun to play and try to push the limits of what you can do. If you like deck builders, you'll love this game P.S. Game hours stupidly high because even being a play tester was to addictive to stop!

TLDR: Mechanics are interesting, but the game's balance + content need work before I can recommend it at its price-point vs. the 100's of other roguelikes. I would like to start, the same way every other review starts. "The concept for this game is fantastic, however the execution in regards to hard-gimping specific builds via bosses you can't avoid is very limiting." I feel as though this game is claiming it's full release, but feels as though it's in early access. The content is fairly…

A lot of interesting ideas that get watered down by uninspired relics and overcomplicated "cards" as well as enemies that will just ♥♥♥♥ your ♥♥♥♥ up because you decided to try one of the "wrong" builds. The cards barely have any visual indicator other than their shape, so you'll soon find yourself with multiple identically shaped cards that do completely different things, so the mental cost of playing the game goes up significantly the more things you unlock, and visual information is not…

Playing this game is easy! The circle shape goes on the circle moon. The triangle shape goes on the circle moon. The line shape goes on the circle moon. The star shape goes on the circle moon. Wait a minute... Moonsigil Atlas brings a fresh twist to the RLDB playstyle: instead of having an arbitrary amount of mana to play, you have one moon to place stuff on. While a card that costs mana will always cost the same regardless of who plays it, a card that takes space may leave unusable gaps…

Game has that same stupid feature as StS (the first), where if you die or quit before beating the first act boss, it restricts your starting boons to two of the worst choices (instead of the usual 4). Like, if you're going to make a big deal about not being like other deckbuilders, why on earth would you carbon copy the worst mechanic of the world's most famous deckbuilder? What could possibly make you think it's a good idea to punish players for having a bad run and losing quickly by forcing…

Yes... but. It's a new idea for how to do the spirelike... but its more of a spatial puzzle than a "builder". There's also a lack of meaningful variety in the encounters and the shape choices. It feels like every run (for a given character) is the sameish. So yea, its a neat idea. I kind of like it... and I wish that the reviews had more than thumbs up and thumbs down. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10 if I could.

This is an intriguing deckbuilder, but after playing quite a few hours of it, I feel like something is off. There are many opportunities to add cards to your deck, but scarcely any to remove them, which limits meaningful deckbuilding. You can either accumulate powerful cards until you have too many to play coherently, or skip the opportunity; skipping almost means you might as well can your run, because enemy difficulty ramps up too quickly, and you're left too underpowered to survive.…

I'm uninstalling after 4 hours of playtime as I just don't enjoy geometry in my card games. However, I'm not giving it a thumbs down as I don't think that's fair. I don't like the game per se, but the game itself isn't objectively a bad game either. It has many things going for it like pretty colors, graphics, an innovated geometry spin to cards and a nice rogue lite / StS type theme with 3 heroes and their respective decks and playstyles. It has some things going against it which is…

I'd love to recommend the game, as I've been enjoying it quite a lot and the mechanic is extremely unique. However, the amount of QoL needed is huge. - An undo button (either last move or full turn) is a must as one wrong move can ruin your full run. - The hovering to read tooltips can easily turn into a misclick, making you select a card you don't really want. Some cards have tooltips within tooltips and it's sometimes impossible to read them without misclicking. - There is no 'confirmation'…

Can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm finding this very dull. Runs feel very similar. Cards being abstracted into shapes (for the sake of the gameplay obviously) has a negative effect of making every card bled together and seem free of personality. Also I muted the music immediately since it's the most off-the-rack, run-of-the-mill fantasy output I've heard in some time.

A really interesting take on the deck-building genre that combines card synergies with spatial reasoning to enable an incredibly vast array of different strategies. The graphics are stunning, the music is epic, and the tutorial and tooltips make the game easy to learn despite the complexity. The enemies use a wide variety of creative mechanics to interact with the sigil placement system, which makes each battle feel unique (and the boss-fights take this to a whole different level). I wish there was something more nuanced than "thumbs up/thumbs down." This game is alright, it just isn't going to do anything that hasn't been done before. The spatial-puzzle idea is neat enough but it doesn't really do anything different with the idea of "every turn is a knapsack problem" type deckbuilders. There's a variety problem when it comes to content too so once you crack a run it's cracked forever, because it doesn't change. Might be better with updates or support, but again it's just…

Moonsigil Atlas has a very creative twist on spending "mana" or other resources to play cards, and it makes full use of its gimmick of board space in different ways whether it is unique card interactions like overlapping shapes with each other, upgrading a card to change its shape, or enemy encounters that restrict how much space you have access to. A brief TL;DR summation of my thoughts after about 15 hours of gameplay: - Moonsigil Atlas is an extremely mechanics-focused title which delivers many hours of intricate, original, deep and challenging gameplay. - It feels a little bare-bones otherwise. - The setting and story are cool but wafer-thin. - Music doesn't stand out. - It will be great fun for a niche audience, but likely too impenetrable or fiddly for the majority. Some note and info if you are on the fence: - The game is not long; in 9h I have most of the non-grind unlocks/story - The game is of the StS DNA, BUT it the tile system is actually quite fresh and the mechanics do interact with it a mayor way, if you are looking for something new(as I was) , you'll find it here - The game has a ton of QoL features! I usually like roguelike deckbuilders, and this game has some unique new ideas and mechanics. Unfortunately, the gameplay feels to me like doing math homework... the whole sigil placing aspect is so tedious and slow, and you have to be ultra careful because you can't undo any placement and one misclick ruins the run... I would say this is one of the most hardcore games in the genre with very complex interactions and synergies between cards, which you can also modify in various ways. Nothing…

Moonsigil is quite a fun, albeit, very challenging deckbuilder. Unlike other deckbuilders, you do not use energy per se. Instead you have sigils (cards) that come in all different shapes and sizes. And the more you can fit/ rotate onto your moon, the better off your turn will be. This next part, take with a grain of salt. While I do have some experience with deckbuilders, it feels like that not all runs are winnable. There were times that I had a really strong deck, but I lost a run…

+ Artstyle and Presentation are truly enganging and pleasant. + Gameplayidea is unique - It does not feel very engaging or rewarding to play - as a roguelike deckbuilder its core mechanic is not engaging enough to keep you hooked, -> Had high hopes and a bit of hype from the demo but release so far is a bit bland.

Extremely frustrating to play with far too many conditionals for card synergies, and perpetual pressure in combat that never lets you actually synergize in any fun way, plus unavoidable damage due to complete absolute rng. This needs a balance pass so badly it makes me wish I had waited at least another year before buying it.

So I played over 25 hours of this game in demo form, and 3 hours now in release, and the game scratches so many itches, I feel like a cat with fleas in a chicken coop. The tiling mechanic is so satisfying when you get things to fit just right, and the feeling when planning a run from the first encounter till the boss Titan, and seeing that plan pay off, is chef's kiss. This game brings some unique mechanics to the genre, it has a ton of replayability and the visual and audio design are…

Moonsigil Atlas is, in my estimation, the most novel and creative take on the Spire formula available. From the first time I played it as a next fest demo I was hooked, and I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to help playtest. In the interest of not repeating all the talking points in the promotional material, I'll limit myself to what I consider the most interesting implications of the space-based cost system - how they impact difficulty The vast majority of slay the…

Yes this is basically a Slay the Spire but with placing sigils instead of mana. That is not a bad thing I've seen some reviews saying that the sigil placing is really annoying but that is the game, and it is really satisfying placing sigils and planning out a turn that ends with a full board. This game is really satisfying and relaxing to play, if you enjoy deck builders this is a nice and interesting twist on the genre that fits really well. There are a few downsides... currently there are…

Ok, only 8 hours in, but this is one of the most unique and interesting Deck building Rogue like games I've played in a while! Using shapes as a constraint for "casting" and vector areas of attacks feels fresh in a genre filled with Slay the Spire and Balatro wannabees. I am truly impressed with this game and highly recommend giving it a shot!

In short, my early impression is positive, have had a lot of fun so far. Read below for a more thorough first impression: The Good - The tetrimino aspect of this game is well implemented and gives the game a fresh feel from the countless other slay the spire deck builder clones out there. They've done a great job not just of coming up with something interesting, but something that balances on that tight rope between simple to under but difficult to master. They've also done a great job of…
