What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 210 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,278 of 2,542 positive).
Players praise the job system as deep, customizable, and fun, allowing creative combinations. [1][2][3] Some note the story is lighter than other entries but still charming and heartfelt. [4][5][6] A few criticize the Pixel Remaster for missing content from the GBA version and technical issues. [7][8][9]

All the reviews for this game seem to be for FF5 itself, not the actual "remaster". Yes, FF5 is amazing, this remaster is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage. THIS IS FOR PC'S. THEY COULD HAVE ADDED MOD SUPPORT, instead we got screen tearing!!! But obviously they didn't, because like most monolithic Japanese companies, they are actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible at their jobs, and the thought of some nobody making a game, or even just …

Final Fantasy V is, by a comfortable margin, the longest of the classic games so far, and you feel that length not as bloat but as wiggle room. This entry brings back the job system from Final Fantasy III, but it is not a simple reprisal, It is an expansion, a refinement, and in some ways a philosophical shift. There are far more jobs this time, every one of them comes with at least one open ability slot. That …

Final Fantasy V is one of the most fun and gameplay-focused entries in the series. It doesn’t rely as heavily on story as some others, but it makes up for it with its mechanics. The job system is easily the highlight of the game. It gives you a huge amount of freedom to customize your party, mix abilities, and experiment with different strategies, which makes the gameplay very engaging. The combat is solid and …

It's a shame FFV doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Because honestly, this is the most fun Final Fantasy I've played. The Job system in this game offers a large amount of customization that almost feels like having cheat codes on. The leveling up in this game is more centered on unlocking the abilities of each class so that you can then use those abilities on other classes. By the end, you can create some …

Final Fantasy V is basically a job‑hopping simulator where you accidentally save the world while trying on increasingly questionable outfits. The job system is still absurdly fun, the story is charming in that “we swear it gets serious later” way and Galuf remains a legend. [7.5/10]

60 of 324 · most liked firstI don't mind roguelikes as a genre, but I don't think it's the absolute answer for games "needing" to be replayable. People play Final Fantasy V every year for charity because of its replayability. Yet the game is a singular, carefully-crafted experience. I don't think roguelikes are the only way.
neutral · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V is DONE! All I can say, is that this game is special. It really is. It's one of the funniest games in the franchise, and also surprisingly heartfelt. I loved the job system and I feel like the replayability is off the charts here. And again, the SOUNDTRACK 😭 I really adored it.
positive · AI labelView post →or by dismissing your readerbase immediately by saying "Well nobody who buys this book are going to know them anyway" ONE OF THE LISTED GAMES IS FINAL FANTASY V? Nearly every Nintendo Direct in the last x years has had a SaGa game shown? YOUR BOOK INCLUDES BRAIN LORD BRAIN LORD. COME ON
neutral · AI labelView post →Why didn't y'all tell me Final Fantasy V was literally the sweetest game ever I'M GETTING EMOTIONAL OVER STUFF LIKE THIS.
positive · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V turns 32 today! This game in my opinion isn't given the attention it deserves. It's incredibly replayable because if the job system and the characters are so charming! Don't even get me started on the OST because there's some absolute bangers.

neutral · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V is now in the bag. Amazing game, one of my new favorites in the series, but holy crap that final boss fight was crazy. Maybe the hardest final fight I've had so far in this series. Only got two more in the series to tackle (not including the MMORPGs). Onto FF2 next.
positive · AI labelView post →26 years ago today, LNF Translations & RPGe released the finished English translation for Magic Knight Rayearth! 🎂🥳 After Final Fantasy V, this was the second SNES RPG ever to receive a fan translation. It's a cute game! You can learn more about it from my shrine: fantasyanime.com/magic-knight...

positive · AI labelView post →Another game in the books, finished off Final Fantasy V in 18 streams / 63 hours. Great game, very underrated!
positive · AI labelView post →Another MSPaint comic, because the cast of FF5 should probably not overreact to what happens in the opening of their game. The Grand Abbott of Quest 64 will break down why that is. #quest64 #finalfantasyv #crossover
neutral · AI labelView post →And we know the SNES/SFC soundchip was capable of some pretty awesome stuff. Just look at Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy V, Secret of Mana, EarthBound, and so on. Honestly I think FFV has my favorite soundfont of any old game ever, it's so good and charming.

neutral · AI labelView post →I turned myself into a tiny splinter, waiting for just this moment! Happy 32 years to this wonderful gem of a game that is Final Fantasy V 🎉
positive · AI labelView post →Finished up Dragon Quest 3! yeah, there's some post-game stuff but we're basically done! Truly one of the games of all time; the job system is a bit exhausting to mess with compare to what comes later but once you crack some of the code it's a lot of fun. Final Fantasy V next on the RPG docket!
neutral · AI labelView post →Wahoo! Third game of the year beat!!! Final Fantasy V is an excellent adventure that is super underrated and seems to live in the shadows of IV and VI. It’s simple, yes, but has a lot of heart and emotion. A great entry to the series and I am so glad I played it!!!

neutral · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V is the best game because you can just run into an enemy called the Skull Eater, who can kill you in one hit with a basic attack, deal even more with a special move, and call in backup to kill your team faster And it looks like this. Don't fuck with the Skull Eater.

The story, the characters, and the music were all wonderful. As well as mastering and experimenting with all the job classes. I'm really happy I experienced this game finally ⚔️✨️
positive · AI labelView post →I'm the specific type of gamer that doesn't play a game that's older than 10 years. I be playing them new games like Final Fantasy V and The Sims 2
neutral · AI labelView post →*through gritted teeth* the beauty of Final Fantasy V is that you can complete the game with any combination of characters, and the Four Job Fiesta encourages you to try using jobs you might otherwise not explore!!
neutral · AI labelView post →Participating in the Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta every year for a while was what finally broke me of that habit, because after a while I knew the game well enough to know exactly whether I would or would not need something later. of course that took like ten playthroughs so
neutral · AI labelView post →I’ve recently started my first playthrough of Final Fantasy V and I am LOVING it! Yoshinori Kitase’s influence shines through and it’s just a joy. What are your thoughts on the game?
positive · AI labelView post →Started playing Final Fantasy V, in the first 20 minutes of the game you have a pirate ship that gets pulled by a dragon. This is gonna be a good one
positive · AI labelView post →Also want to add a Final Fantasy game to my August gaming plans 🎮 The three I’m between: - Final Fantasy V - Final Fantays VIII (I would restart this one again) - Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
neutral · AI labelView post →Wish they'd remake this one, too. One of my faves in the franchise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really determined to beat Final Fantasy V this week! LET’S DO THIS! It’s actually a solid game and I’m so glad I finally got around to checking it out!
positive · AI labelView post →Happy 32 Years Final Fantasy V With an amazing Job System, and with Four Job Fiesta every year I am always drawn back to play! Such a fantastic game! #FFV #FinalFantasy #RetroGaming
positive · AI labelView post →It’s been too long and I really want to play a Final Fantasy game next. Now to debate which one to pick 🤔 - Final Fantasy V - Final Fantasy IX - Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
neutral · AI labelView post →Can't pick a specific "best" episode, but I do remember that the one about Final Fantasy V made me completely change my stance on the game. I tried it again after the episode, and it went from being what I once thought was very boring and simplistic, to possibly a top ten game for me.

negative · AI labelView post →2.) Final Fantasy V The Job system becomes incredibly fun once you learn all the game breaking combo’s you can get away with. I feel like I was a little overwhelmed by how long the end game was though. 1000+ years of Gilgamesh Supremacy
neutral · AI labelView post →I was musing over this last stream, but I think I'm going to bring in Final Fantasy V Advance as my next RetroAchievements game after Superstar Saga's finale this weekend. This'll be the largest RA game for me yet, 172 achievements with 84 missable. This is going to be a hefty and exciting project!
neutral · AI labelView post →Today's "what I'm playing" post: Yep, more Final Fantasy V! The game is far longer than I remember from the GBA 😅 Bartz and the gang have just acquired a submarine, so it's time to explore!
neutral · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V is a game about tender moments between two sisters <3
neutral · AI labelView post →Final Fantasy V platinum done, woo hoo! 🥳 I'm (very slowly) making progress towards getting it for every game in the series. I have always had such a soft spot for this one. It's charming, hilarious, touching, and most importantly, has Gilgamesh and Exdeath. Enough said.
positive · AI labelView post →Aaaand I have beaten Final Fantasy V! God. What a fantastic game. I had a blast from start to finish. And by the end of it, I was moved to tears… for REASONS. Omg
positive · AI labelView post →Hi, I'm live with 2 years of streaming! Also I'm finishing the main story of Final Fantasy V and probably pressing onwards to the new (for 2006) Sealed Temple exclusive to the GBA port of the game! I also got a date with a dragon who likes to hide in treasure chests. twitch.tv/jb_retro

neutral · AI labelView post →100% Review Similar to FF4 in term of production quality, gameplay, story and characters. It has weaker OST (less memorable) But it delivers in longer story and variety of strategy with the expanded job system. What to expect trying to 100% I feel like there's much less hidden items, as much chests, however there's a very large amount of missable bestiary entries, chests and hidden items. You have to actively follow guides to prevent failures to obtain one of the above. I would place this…
