What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 199 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (3,967 of 5,040 positive).
Players praise the classic Mega Man X games for their fast-paced gameplay, memorable level design, and satisfying challenge. [1][2][3] Many reviewers complain that the collection suffers from input lag, poor optimization, and missing features like control remapping. [4][5][6][7] Some players recommend playing the games through emulation instead due to these technical issues. [8][9][10]

My thumbs down is not representative of the quality of the original games, as they are in fact some of my favorite games of all time. This is a warning to all those that wish to relive these great games that this is one of the worst way to experience them. There's input lag aplenty, visua filter options are limited and none feel great, plus the game won't scale properly in 4:3 and 21:9 aspect ratios. Now normally, …

The only thing im genuinely sad about is not being born when this masterpiece originally dropped. Fast forward to now, playing it as an adult and the sheer badassery is unreal. Everything hits perfectly, the characters, the clean simple story, the atmosphere, the intensity but above all else, ZERO. Easily in my Top 10 characters of all time. From the moment he appeared in MMX, that peak character design, the …

All games in this collection are at least good (depending on your opinion on X3). I think the original Megaman X and X4 are the standout games and I would definitely recommend buying this collection just for those two games alone. If you are only going to buy one of the X collections then get this one as the games in legacy collection 2 are really underwhelming in comparison. In conclusion, games are good.

Just finished X1-8 for the first time. I can't believe I missed out on such a fun series! I definitely see why it is so beloved.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG | First thing first - the games themselves are awesome, and the review covers the collection itself and it's problems Pros - everything here (X1 to X4) works and present fully, faithfully preserved and available on modern platforms Cons - "works" is the best definition here, because sometimes games just started to drop performance randomly for reasons unknown; the games themselves were preserved too faithfully - that means no saves on Sigma stages in X1 (haven't got to other SNES games,…

neutral · AI labelView post →Lazy collection which is basically just a bunch of emulated ROMs. X1-3 has some horrible input delay in this version that caused me to get multiple frustrating game overs at segments where precise platforming is needed. You used to be able to mod it to have the best experience with the relocalization hacks for X1-3 but Crapcom in its infinite wisdom decided to completely cull and cripple modding by making it impossible to modify the EXE. Some say they've managed to get an X4 undub mod working…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Preserving gaming history is important, and Megaman X really showed us how a beloved title could evolve from the 8-bit era. These games are great and I think everyone should experience the game design of MMX1 (there is a great youtube video about it). Unfortunately, this collection is dog-water and you are better off playing it via alternative means. I sat down with old friends, all excellent megaman classic/X players, and we were getting destroyed by the appalling input lag. I switched to an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Megaman X1-X3 in this collection have annoying input delay. You're much better of just emulating SNES og the PS2 Megaman X collection.

negative · AI labelView post →#9 - Mega Man X [Replay] I've finished this game plenty of times, but in order to play through the X series I decided to play ones I've finished before as well. Avoid the Mega Man X Legacy Collection versions of 1-3 by the way. They have ridiculous input lag.

neutral · AI labelView post →The game runs like absolute dookie, I tried messing with some settings to get past the terrible port issues somehow but it was all in vain. Other reviews say the same thing, I would listen to them and emulate the X games instead.

neutral · AI labelView post →I don't understand how you can release this collection in basically a worse state than emulation. - We're on modern hardware, sprite limits/lag should not be a problem. - Limited background choices - No trials/challenges, just double bosses - No pixel art style looks horrid - What's with the lack of save states? Even emulators have them. I started making this review when I was at the last boss, and turned off the game, just to realize that it send me back to sigma stage 1 and all that the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another low effort collection of ROMs from Capcom. There's slowdown, audio issues, input lag, horrible texture filtering. It's missing basic features like rewind, auto-fire, save states etc. Literally just emulate them and you'll have a better experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely unplayable, game runs at 75% speed, I have tried every fix people have said works, how does a company release such a horribly unoptimized port of 25 year old games, ridiculous...I have a 3080ti/Ryzen 5 5600x/32GB DDR5....so ridiculous
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not Alt-Tab out of the game in fullscreen, re-tabbing will make it crash and you will lose the progress of your current session. Same goes for windowed fullscreen, which won't crash the game but won't let you tab back in. Want to change the ingame volume? Sorry pal, no audio options available. This whole thing is an absolut lazy port of 3 Super Nintendo (!)-games which causes about 30% GPU load on a 3070. The games themself totally rock but the collection is absolute garbage.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a load of Megaman X back as a kid on the original SNES and was looking forward to some nostalgia this weekend, unfortunately I can only assume the port has some awful technical issues because despite having a PC with a strong CPU and GPU (enough to run well over 100 fps in modern titles), when I got to the first boss of my run (Chill Penguin) the framerate of the game tanked to single digits and the graphics started glitching out (his chill breath only showing the furthest snowflake…

positive · AI labelView post →The Megaman X games are awesome. They are 100% worth playing. THIS COLLECTION IS NOT. The collection does not work at all. When you launch the game you just get a black screen that never goes to the main menu. There is no way to play the game and there is no fix. Capcom made a post saying they fixed the issue but THIS IS A LIE. They didn't fix anything at all. The game still doesn't launch and you still can't play it at all

The bonus challenge arena is a a lot worse than the original Mega Man collection but that is bonus content outside of the main games so I can't complain too much.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X4 on here has no problems and you can download an undub patch for this version too but X1-X3 have pretty terrible input delay and an incorrect aspect ratio so you're better off playing them literally anywhere else
