Many reviewers complain about game-breaking bugs and technical issues. [1][2][3]

I played more than 900 hours to complete all the campaign missions. This is the best HoMM game that I have ever played (I~VI, not yet play VII). However, I must admit that nearly all the negative reviews are true. I quitted playing this game for 4 times. The first time was due to the Arena bug that I cannot use my faction ability. The second time was due to the "affinity staff" bug that directly ruined my hero (so …

I love the game, the cutscenes, cinematic, music, graphics and gameplay, overall it is the best homm of series. BUT, it also has the worst bugs in history of homm.

It's Ubisoft. You want to play one of their games 10 years later? Sorry can't play. Just pirate.

So buggy. Long time HOMM player so decided try the newer ones. Yes, I started playing after servers shutdown however I did not see why that would make a difference to singleplayer game. However I'm going to have to give up. Had enough the of bugs. So just starters massive horizontal tearing moving vertical onscreen. That eventually fixed by using VSYNC options in graphics card (NOT in the game). When using menus in …

Went to play this after several years to see that they've long-since removed multiplayer. I've got games far older than this with a still-functioning multiplayer system. Leave it to Ubisoft to ruin a beloved game with poor management and an insistence on forcing players to use THEIR platform with an additional account registration and several redundancies, just for some extra "control." The hate is less about the …

Players who liked Might & Magic: Heroes VI talk about great story and godly music; those who didn't talk about game-breaking bugs and crashes. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Initially, the game was plagued with numerous in-game crashes, lock-ups, errors, and bugs; poor artificial intelligence; significant faction/hero/creature imbalance; and the usage of DRM. The game has been updated with several patches, bringing the version to 2.1.1. On September 25, 2013, Ubisoft declared that there would be no more online support on Heroes VI, bringing an official end to the updates. The game received positive to mixed reviews according to the review aggregation website It is listed as an IGN Editors' Choice, citing "addictive turn-based strategy" gameplay and "major improvements to a fantastic formula". GameSpy and GamePro noted similar positives but lowered their scores…

neutral · AI labelView post →Wait, are you saying the guy who wrote a huge email to us about how we were “taking food off his table” because I didn’t think that Dark Messiah of Might & Magic was a 9 has other bad thoughts about game reviews???
neutral · AI labelView post →I got Heroes of Might & Magic II working on Win11 this morning. It was the first real PC game I ever played back in like 2000 when I found a copy of it at a local Goodwill. Its also the first time I was ever stunned by music in a video game. Every town theme is ridiculous, especially for 1996.
positive · AI labelView post →You might sometimes think that you are doing a terrible job, but trust me, you will never be as bad as Ubisoft releasing Heroes of Might & Magic 3 on Steam and forgetting to INCLUDE ALL THE GAME FILES
neutral · AI labelView post →Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a spinoff of a spinoff, that took the strategy RPG design to new levels by deciding that this one was also a match-three puzzle game. It works, though, as much back in 2009 as it does in 2026, whether you play the DS original or one of the many HD ports since.
positive · AI labelView post →I've played the Heroes of the Seven Islands demo, it's a cozy light RPG with classic Might & Magic inspirations, feels like a lost Flash game from the late 2000s: store.steampowered.com/app/3010290/...
neutral · AI labelView post →I can't get the idea of making my own Might & Magic type game out of my head. I think I'm gonna have to do it at some point. It's all I can think about sometimes. Maybe I should just play Might & Magic again to get it out of my system.
neutral · AI labelView post →Game Boy Color has these wonderful ports (I guess they can be called official "demakes") of Heroes of Might & Magic games that feel like a missing link between Heroes and King's Bounty. First game is basically Heroes 1, but the second game is more like Heroes Greatest Hits.
neutral · AI labelView post →Giving this one more push over the weekend! I played Might & Magic 2's relatively obscure Super Famicom version and, hey, it totally rules. It also blows my mind that there are THREE 16-bit console versions of this game for some reason.

neutral · AI labelView post →I randomly went back to Might & Magic X and it's such a early-2010s-ass game. It's loudly an "old-school RPG revival" with lots of passion, but feels more nostalgic than a great game by itself... shame the team could never do a M&M XI. Also, it supports widescreen but still feels better in 4:3 lol

The key does not work anymore, although it acknowledges it is registered to the same account email. Customer support proposes a solution that simply pisses me off and have not done. neutral · AI labelView post →Fun game dev fact of the day: The entire Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Complete game, released in 1999, takes up about as much space on disk as ten uncompressed 4k textures. A single hunter with armor and a weapon in Monster Hunter World with HD textures takes more textures to render than that.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ultimate insight into development of Heroes of Might & Magic. A little late to the party, given this interview came out 3 months ago and the game he's promoting has launched into early access, but it's still fun to listen to Van Caneghem talk about the early days of PC game development and the HoMM franchise.

I loved lots of the previous games, HOMM I, II, III, IV, V and King's Bounty before that, so no surprise that HOMM VI was on the top of my list some years ago. I've probably spent an hour trying and all I get is a black fullscreen with only the cursor visible. Audio works, but no image. It's deeply frustrating. Until Ubisoft fixes this game's compatibility, don't bother buying this game as it is unplayable unless you have an old machine running an older version of Windows.
