neutral · AI labelView post →Okko The Exiled has been the most fun I've had with a platformer in years, at least since Hollow Knight, and despite Okko's smaller size and scope, I would firmly put it into a must-play category for anyone who deeply enjoys platforming, or is looking for fun 2D action combat that encourages usage of every mechanic available to you, and eventually pushes into a satisfying level of difficulty without ever once crossing the line into feeling as though difficulty took precedence over design. Plenty of movement options too, makes the gameplay feel fast and fun. That said, additional polish would have been nice and I can't say I cared for the story. 6/10 #IndieGames

neutral · AI labelView post →Shovel Oni. Honestly gave me the same gameplay sensations I felt back when I first played Shovel Knight. The game guides you into a kind of flow state with a lot of the platforming. Add on to that the absolutely gorgeous art and spritework, a satisfying soundtrack, and some neat puzzles... Plus being able to baseball bat all the enemies is just too satisfying. Slamming them into each other quickly became an addiction. Also Okko is a total cutie. 👀
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very charming game, very oldschool, beautiful, nice music, really well priced. Most people will like it, but its not gonna blow your mind. Also the controls might not be to everyone's liking.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okko The Exiled's visual is actually quite stunning compare to their previous titles. Instead of metroidvania, its a side scroller game with 2 normal zone that form a path to the boss zone, about 6 boss path and a centre hub for upgrading and item vendor. Some of the platforming is also quite challenging, best to remember some of the control. neutral · AI labelView post →My actual playtime in this game is around 9 hours. I just played most of it offline. I recommend this game, but with some nitpicks. If you like Shovel Knight, this is great. Solid platforming, well-spaced upgrades, and meaningful mechanics. The heartbeat mechanic that you can time your attacks to is persistent throughout the game, and increases in effectiveness with a focus mode that you can turn on and off with a meter. You can also use a slower attack that knocks enemies around, including…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loving it so far. I came for the art, which is great. But so is everything else. Both the platforming and the combat sit in a nice goldilocks zone of being challenging enough to be engaging without becoming tedious. The game's systems are also very well designed. I'm normally the type to forget to use various meters, special abilities, or consumables. But I've been finding it very intuitive to mix in all the tools the game is giving me. The level designs have been nice and varied, both…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This really scratches my retro gaming itch. Such a beautifully crafted game with lots of action, plus an amazing sound track. Definitely recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautifully crafted environments, characters, and animations. Every level is unique and presents fun and engaging activities, puzzles, and gimmicks to master. I especially loved the variety of bosses and the different mechanics needed to beat them. The game slowly introduces more abilities at a reasonable rate that makes you feel like you have time to master the previous ones. Once the kit is complete you feel powerful, and it's a blast to play through the battles and platforming when you have…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gorgeous world full of devils and stuff, really great design that pulls from too many great sources to even bother mentioning. I bought this going off graphics alone, it looked that good. I read some reviews about the controls feeling jank before I bought the game, and while I don't fully agree overall, there is one critical issue with jumping. For some reason you need to be grounded longer than usual before consecutive jumps are executed. In other platformers, it almost feels like you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okko The Exiled is a 2D Pixel Art Action Platformer about a boy named Okko whose mission is to take down the archonts from the regions of Kutala and free it from the grasp of the demon lord Yaldabaoth. The game uses a system called focus mode where there's a clock turning clockwise around your character once you turn it on and if you land the attack on the 12 o'clock mark, you will do a heartbeat sync damage which deals additional damage to enemies/bosses or even break shields, the system was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay feels too clunky to recommend. They expect you to constantly bounce on objects or enemies by jumping over them then holding down and hitting attack, but it is slow to start up, and the hit boxes on it seem overly tiny. It feels more frustrating than fun or challenging.

neutral · AI labelView post →Really love the art style and the way combat feels but there's some things I need with a game released in 2026: --Audio mute when tabbed out/out of focus; very necessary for any game --Why are some controls unchangeable? We should be allowed to choose what buttons we keep Focus and Potion toggle on. It's really awkward keeping attack and dash on R1/L1 instead of R2/L2
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid platformer with attractive pixel graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would say its really a throwback to Castlevania on its style and combat. Definitely so far ive been surprised with some of the mechanics like using the enemies to propels you up and even the bold decision of having Okko to swim :) the art style is nice and Waifu spotted on the fox girl in the Old Throne. PS I like the MC looks a bit like Tomba or has Tomba Vibes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommend if you're a big fan of platformers and beautiful pixel art.

positive · AI labelView post →loved this game, absolute visual masterpiece, just crazy gorgeous. mechanically speaking its kind of like hollow/shovel knight in that action platform sort of way. my biggest gripes really is the reuse of bosses but i can brush it off since they're mostly fun even a second time- the actual big bosses themselves are a blast so again it's not the worst thing ever. i think id really love a harder mode- maybe a way to have only one-heart maximum. Or just straight up die in a single hit-type-mode.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cute game. Bossfights get really spicy till the end of the game. The pixel art is out of this world and the music is really good. The gameplay is simple but rewarding. If you are in for a simple linear and fast game then this is for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shovel Knight if the maps were designed to be smashed through like Super Mario World. A little too easy most of the time, but in a way that's fun to rush. Lots of rooms are combination platforming and combat, with enemy placement used to both hinder and help you along. Boss fights are a big plus. Art and music are the highlights, both are INCREDIBLE.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The spritework is beautiful and I love all the different combat options. So far, I really love the heartbeat attacks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okko the Exiled is a delight. It features beautiful music, some truly incredible backgrounds and boss designs, and both the story and combat have enough depth to remain enjoyable for its brief but well paced story. While it starts a little slow in a similar fashion to Hollow Knight, and some early mechanics are overshadowed, the last few biomes and their respective bosses are a treat. For the price of meal at McDonalds, please consider rewarding years of hardwork from a delightful dev team.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gonna change the wording of this review, because the issue IS controller specific, where as it initially seemed like the game was just straight up broken. Controller is supported, but it's INCREDIBLY buggy. I have no interest playing a platformer on keyboard, so I'll be checking back periodically for controllers to work. But TLDR: you can barely even walk, it will randomly refuse to accept forward inputs. And jumping stops momentum, among other things. While on controller I was not able to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazingly wonderful adventure! The art style is extremely cute and well done, as well as very detailed for pixelated sprite work! The gameplay itself is well done and intuitive. The platforming is not very floaty, you stick your landings and Okko is not very slippery or floaty. The puzzles themselves start off simple and get a little more difficult along the way. The combat is fun, and reminded me of more traditional old school platformers with the directional attacks, using your down…

positive · AI labelView post →This is an okay game, worth picking up if you are into the genre mostly, the music is nice, the gameplay and controls are snappy enough but overall it felt like I didn't have much reason to really do anything flashy with it. Timing your attacks to the beat is nice in concept, but oftentimes it's frustrating that it won't line-up with when you need to hit an enemy. The secrets are okay for the most part, it feels like in the mid-game they are a bit too easy to find however, compared to early…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okko the Exiled is a good game. Pixel art is beautiful and music is good. The game could have better sound design and better movement. I think the dash ability covers too short of a distance, it works for platforming but doesn't work that well during combat when facing big enemies. In some platforming sections the timing of moving objects you are supposed to bounce of is questionable. I didn't experience any technical problems or bugs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is so great! So unique and special
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple review for the game. I really liked it. The whole syncretic mix of themes for the lore, the cutesy sprites, the fairly balanced progression and difficulty curve for the gameplay (barring the downstrike mechanic which I didn't really find that hard, but your mileage may vary), all combined to make this game feel like a labour of love. A minor piece of advice is that roughly the first half of the game allows you to be sloppy, the final half requires more patience and finesse. Just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games of the year. It was the right length, the art is amazing, the gameplay is tight and the music was agreeable. It's also priced accordingly which makes it an easy recommendation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it! The visuals are amazing, the characters charming, and the gameplay truly shines as you acquire more movement options. Just wish we could remap more inputs on controller, personally I wanted to swap the potions and Focus mode triggers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't finish the game, here's my thoughts on a video form... https://youtu.be/2F9eoVEzqCs?si=wNxvsBMSwdvvtAHH
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pixel art is very pretty. I don't play a lot of platformers so I think the gameplay is fine. There were some issues with input but they are being patched. The characters are cute.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, a fun and unique experience. What really stood out to me the most were the soundtracks, boss fights and learning how to effectively use the focus mode system, which requires timing an attack on a beat which deals significantly more damage and breaks shields. Utilizing your movement and timings to hit focus mode attacks is very satisfying especially when its a final blow against a boss. You gain additional combat and movement abilities as you progress through the game which really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once you've passed the tutorial and first levels that you're guided to. This is a great game, quite a bit is scripted with bosses and you do lose currency when dying but the difficulty is fair enough that the penalty doesn't impact your progression. Although bosses are scripted - it was still incredibly satisfying to beat them. If you want a platformer you can kick back and relax and enjoy, this is absolutely it. DO NOT sleep on this title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed my time with this side scrolling 2D platformer with a cute collection of characters. I love the artstyle of the game, every area looks beautiful and unique, with the monsters looking cool and well crafted. It was fun Pogoing arouind off enemies and getting upgrades that made for even more movement tech.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun action platformer with a beautiful art style and great music. I recommend it! The combat is based on simple concepts but has a learning curve to it, because the entire point is NOT to mash buttons. Instead you're really rewarded for using the timing mechanics to do single powerful strikes and deflect projectiles. I'm not the best at it yet, but thankfully the game does a good job of making sure you understand the fundamentals before you get too far in over your head.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very pretty and very fun along with some good tunes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend it to lovers of beautiful pixel art
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having a lot of fun with this game so far. The pixel art looks great, the music is really good, and it has that old-school action platformer feel. Combat is fun. The difficulty feels just right for me, not too difficult or too easy. It gives you enough of a challenge to keep things interesting without feeling frustrating or like you’re just walking through everything. Been playing it on my Steam Deck and it works really great. Definitely recommend checking it out if you enjoy 2D action…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was gonna grab this just cause Moonshen is my favourite artist, but I was pleasently surprised by the tight controls and great boss fights. This is a really cool platformer at its core and I can't say enough good things about it. Also +1 for tiger bulge.
