Despite how much potential this game has, I can't in good faith recommend it. For whatever reason, the game is absurdly challenging in some later levels, requiring retry after retry after retry to make your way through. It would be one thing if the failures felt as though they were my fault, but a solid third of the time, it doesn't. I believe that this has to do with a combination of general bad level design and …

Ah, Pompom. I love it for what it does right, I hate it for what it does wrong. Pompom is a fantastic game - as long as you play it as the creator intended! That's not necessarily a bad thing, most puzzle games have you find the logic to arrive at a satisfying solution, and I think Pompom counts as a puzzle game. And it's great to find the intended solution, watching the hamster bounce off of enemies just in time …

Charming Game. 100% completed it in 10 hours. Almost every stage features a unique mechanic, which is cool. However, those mechanics are almost always dropped immediately after, making them exclusive to one or two stages at most. It certainly makes each stage stand out but I cannot help but feel disappointed by the untapped potential. None of the game's ideas are explored as much as they could be. My personal gripes …

I actually quite like this game! But I don't recommend buying the Steam release, because it's missing content that's only available in the Switch version. If you don't own a Switch, then sure grab this version! But if you do, get the Switch version, or you'll be kind of disappointed the way I am right now As for the game itself: Overall quite fun, constantly adds new gimmicks and makes the absolute most out of its core concept, but it's sometimes way *way* too hard for its own good. What seems…

Don't get me wrong-- this game is adorable. The concept of the game is amazing. The artwork is great. However, I wish the gameplay was executed better. Some levels are extremely challenging that it becomes un-enjoyable to play. Pompom's jump mechanics overshoot placements sometimes that placing the objects become more unpredictable. Not to mention, the vertical mechanic is nearly impossible to navigate and isn't very straightforward. I've played plenty of difficult games and platformers and…

Beat the final boss. (not 100% yet) The main hurdle to get over with this game is predicting Pompom's movement. After that, the game gets really fun. (Also had more fun when I turned speedrun mode on and XXL time bar -- the extra control and leniency helped me enjoy the game a lot more) Was in the groove for a bunch of the gameplay. Favorite bosses where in the ghost world and the final boss. The ghost world boss was especially unique and would want to fight him over and over (if I…

Trying to like Pompom a lot, due to the charming aesthetic, and the intriguing premise. My problem is that, I'm not enjoying how the game feels to play. since the whole thing is based on extremely tight mouse placement of objects, it doesn't help when the camera is constantly being wrestled from you, jerking your screen orientation around. I was doing fine on Pompom right up until the levels started to become vertically scrolling. This stupid hamster just refuses to go where I expect him to…

I'll be honest, the idea is great. The visual, the music, very nostalgic, amazing story, the gameplay is fine, it's all on point... but the one thing that ruins the game and make no sense is the level design. The presentation of new ingredient is fine but it escalate SO quickly within a level that you end up restarting over and over again and at some point you just can't keep up with pom-pom and what is asked of you to do. I understand that you can lower the difficulty but I would expect the…

This is one of those rare games that I couldn't really enjoy but still like. I'm not sure exactly what it is, maybe it's the entire concept of reverse platformer, or just this particular implementation of it in real time that makes it extremely chaotic and surprisingly reflex-based even with the time stop that makes it hard to have fun with. This game has a lot of mechanics that are interesting and make every stage feel unique. Sadly, I can't say that about all of them. A noticeable amount feels like it would need more work done to be reliable and fun to use. The game is split into 8 distinctive chapters. Every chapter has from 7-9 levels, except the last one. An adorable game about a hamster named Pompom and all the while you are changing the environment/helping Pompom get through every level. You can move Pompom around either by a balloon, throwing platforms in front of Pompom, springs and such. Also, the game starts with the retro pixel, like how you would see in old Mario and Sonic games, BUT they have an option to basically smooth out the look to the game. Only pointing this out just in case there is someone out there put off by the pixel look.

Video: https://youtu.be/Rn8TP7oz5aE Pompom has all the charm in the world. Cute, colorful, fun, nostalgic, fresh but familiar. Unfortunately, it's an autorunner. While traditional autorunners tend to lean into fast, twitchy gameplay, Pompom takes a slower approach. The slow waddle forward requiring you to slow time and place platforms under Pompom's feet so they can keep waddling forward. It sounds interesting and the first few levels play well. The game also offers a large number of collectibles that challenge players to think strategically about their placement. When I saw the trailer I thought it was a cool idea to be the support to the plattform character, but the controls take too long to get used to because they are so unintuitive and there's too much trial and error for me. I managed to get through the first world, but I'm not really interested to do the rest. Besides the visual presentation and music it's not really enjoyable and I'd rather play a normal plattformer.

More times than not, games like Pompom are a visual delight but don't offer much of a challenge unless you're going for 100%. However, this one, fortunately, hits the nail on delivering a challenge that doesn't feel like a toddler's stacking toy but isn't too inflexible, either. While it's possible to exploit your way through some stages with trampolines and the 2nd chance bubble, others feel especifically built to prevent this from happening. Late Temple Zone stages could use a slight…

Not only do the graphical sprites vary across the different levels but also does the music by having tracks fit for each of the different places the worlds are based around. In fact, the aesthetics go to the point where if you'd given me a screenshot out of context before I came across this, I'd have probably guessed this was one of those super rare cartridges…
