What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 162 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (3,882 of 6,134 positive).
Players say it's a fun, fanservice-filled game for Gundam fans. [1][2][3] Many note it's grindy and repetitive, especially for unlocking suits. [4][5][6] Some complain about bugs, lack of pause, and no English voice. [7][8][9]

Sometimes it's fun to just run around as a mini gundam and smack things. They have lots of MS, and the missions are generally pretty short, and if you just solo one MS, it's not overly grindy. And you can play the whole game co-op! ...That's it, that's all the good I can say. The game is SUPER repetitive, you can't customise or really upgrade you robots. (you pretty much just just equip-able perks and passives) You …

It's a hack n slash game. No surprise. Don't know what all the fuss is about that people were complaining. So many gundams and units from across the eras and ages. 7/10 and that's a good rating.

This game scratches the "Dynasty Warrior Gundam" itch real good . The SD Mobile Suits grew on me quickly, and the gameplay loop is fun. There is a bit of a good grind if you want to unlock the various Mobile Suits, mainly reliant on RNG, though I think it skews towards Suits you've already made progress towards unlocking. My only complaints are I wish it elaborated on the cut system more and there was an English …

This can be a good, challenging game if you are a big Gundam fan, but it's grindy and repetitive. Also takes a lot of time to unlock strong units.

ONLY to Gundam fans, because it's pure fanservice.

neutral · AI labelView post →If there's anything I can depend on Bandai for, it's publishing subpar Gundam games. I'm going to cut to the chase: the ally AI is dreadful, and the game knows this by making their health value magnitudes higher than the player's. During boss fights, they will occasionally stare at bosses, not dodging or firing because... I don't know. It's hard to speculate WHY the AI is so stupid, and I can only conclude that it outright poisons the single-player experience. You'll have a boss on the ropes,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The grind is absolutely UNREAL. Not only that, it has TIMED EVENTS in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME. And just like many games like this, only a bunch of Mobile Suits are good for farming the hardest missions, mostly because they have longer combos than others.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad, not great either. I wish they made new Gundam Musou instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Watching the Hathaway lines in SD Gundam Battle Alliance and he really is just like 'Don't worry about me... I might be dead tomorrow...' or ' The federation is beyond saving, my job is to pave the way for someone powerful enough to lead' what is his fucking problem.
neutral · AI labelView post →Played 100 hours+ and it is not too bad for a Gundam fans. However, the dev doesn't fix the targeting bug and it switch target randomly. Also, I found another bug. In some missions (eg. 3A, EX1C,...), the system target makes my view non-stop spinning until I kill the mob. The DEV NEED to FIX it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →they cut support for the game.... big shame.... they could have added a lot more to the game and gave us access to some enemy suits too.... tons more they could have done but greedy company just cash grabs and moves to the next thing...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →there is way too much talking and wasting of time, cant skip the 5 minute dialog after battles, even battles and stages you have already cleared

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun, but it lacks quality of life features. feels repetitive quite quickly. Definitely not worth the full price

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I bought SD Gundam Battle Alliance, thinking it'd be a fun little action RPG and apparently from the hour of gameplay I put into it, it's literally just a bog standard free to play mobile action RPG at a AAA price. Like everything except for the missions are through menus and you level up by using money in the menu, and you have level caps you have to grind items to increase, and when you finish the tutorial they just give you a bunch of stuff from updates that give you like a million…

neutral · AI labelView post →lacking in customization, insane amount of text dialogue and it is not voiced in english. Anoying to get and level up new gundams and pretty much there is no reason to do that other than diferent looks.Bland empty levels ,though i liked city areas where i felt like i am in giant mech.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty hard to play when theres SO MUCH action on screen and they expect you to read subtitles to know whats going on. darting my eyes back and forth especially when playing on the big screen sucks. Just tired of the lazy ports. Not going to bother buying anymore modern games that arent dubbed in english.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent Gundam game when it's on sale (80% off or more), but definitely only recommended for Gundam fans. Takes a bit of practice to learn how to break opponents' armor and perform perfect guards/counters/side steps. Once you learn to break armor and guard, it becomes a lot easier. Unlocking all the Gundams and levelling them is a major grind, but it all becomes easy once you get to hard mode. Start by focusing on one or two Gundams, and then you'll be able to max the rest more easily by…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game genuinely has the worst targeting system I've ever had the displeasure of using. There's PS2 games with better tracking and lock on than this trash. Only buy it if it's on sale, even then you'll regret every penny spent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is both a crime and a travesty that there is no Gundam HEAVYARMS in this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna be honest...I just love this game. I loved it when I first played it on console, still love it on PC. The gameplay is good, sound effects are good, custom bgms(you can upload your own) on special attacks, graphics are good, controls are good. The game's opening scene and how it ties into the ending of the game's story was one of those rare moments that hits you in the feels and makes you hyped up. I give it 10 angry stompy chibi gundams/10, would 100% buy a sequel if they make one.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't care about my playtime, I have beaten this game on another platform. SDGBA is THE game for Gundam fans, it is extremely rewarding but it takes a looong time to actually "begin". In fact, the game's best part starts at NG+ (for me it took about 40 hours to beat the game), when you get lots of capital and parts from missions so you can start tackling chaos and hard missions and level up different mechas. I really want to play this online with someone, but sadly at least on NSW the online…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tought it like muso style. But the action not aggressive as it shoud be. The fighting style so slow. The movement not so smooth.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FIRST, there are aiming and camera options. Find the setting suits you. 25~30 hours of first story playthrough, 44 hours when I got all achievements. All by myself. It is sometimes challenging but doable. This is a RPG-action game, not a hack-n-slash nor a mecha shooting game. Find your own build of different type of MS, equipment and skill. The game is deeper than these cute characters look. Super Deformed Mobile Suits in this game are very detailed. Walking, sliding, jumping with thrust,…

positive · AI labelView post →Why is it so hard for Bandai ti make a good Gundam game? Just spent 3 hours playing SD Gundam Battle Alliance and I want my time back.
negative · AI labelView post →this is so good also alert all dialogue is in japanese and you cant change it so you have to use the subtitles but overwise amazing fighting is fun also some bosses require super human skill or to change from normal to easy or just um stop playing and come back later

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can really only recommend this if you're a hardcore Gundam fan, and if it's on sale. The graphics are nice, and it's fun playing a little super-deformed robot beating up other robots. It's quite repetitive, though, and the story of jumping through different Gundam timelines to fix things that went wrong isn't going to appeal to many outside hardcore Gundam nerds. Mercifully, the game does have extra scenes you can view for additional context if you're playing an era you're not familiar…

neutral · AI labelView post →It should have been a good game. It's certainly an excellent idea. But this is a perfect example of shameless game Developers just wanting to say they made a game rather than making a fun/playable .game. The lack of quality of life factors in this game render it almost unplayable. And why do developers think that people would have fun repeating the same Mission 20 times to maybe get the items you need. Please just skip this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mindless fun with giant robots and great music, got it on sale for 30 bucks and am thoroughly satisfied with what I got!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very boring stiff and lacking fluidity feels like playing Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire yet SD. So much talking. You spend more time pressing A/X then actually playing the game. not worth beyond 5 bucks for all DLC and game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly annoying that so many of my favorite suits are in the game, modeled and kitted out, but arent playable suits, such as the Angelo Sauper Geara Zulu, and the standard Gundam Gusion, and so many other suits, the Jagd Doga, any of the Geara Doga/Zulu other versions of the guncannon/tank are modeled but they couldnt be bothered with so much as a skin switch, NO JESTAS? cmon maaan...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dev absolutely didn't test the game with mouse and keyboard. Target lock is constantly drifting onto other targets cuz I moved my mouse?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Runs better than my Nintendo Switch (1) version. Great game full of so many mechs from so many series. So much fun to have them interact.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay loop is really fun, and the visuals remind me of those Blokees figures, but holy poop on a stick, I wish there was a way to shut the two ladies the eff up! They talk incessantly. Never ceasing.
