The game is good and the story is great. However, before you get to see the ending you have to go do a very strenuous task: go through every single map, all over again, space by space, and look for some new monsters that they secretly added without telling you--and they don't even mark this monster for you on the map either! You have to kill these monsters to open the way to the ending. It felt like a job except you …

This game is an amazing experience. Action platforming, parry heavy soulslike combat, fun and rewarding battle mechanics, huge skill tree... The list goes on. I was obsessed with this game during Early Access and now I've fallen back in love all over again. Well crafted and just SO much fun to play!

Just getting started, but this is such an incredibly satisfying hack 'n slash metroidvania that has some absolutely thrilling combat. It takes the good aspects of Souls-like games and avoids the pitfalls of all the things that are less fun, which I think is hard to do. Great graphics, combat, and level design so far!

Its pretty good, kind of like a Nioh-feeling metroidvania without the looting, and id be hard pressed to give it a negative score after liking it so much, however; It has clearly undisclosed AI assets for at least some of the items, which is very disappointing, at worst disclose them, at best do not use them whatsoever, they look awful and out of place, this would warrant a neutral review already if that was a …

Game is super fun so far. Pros: - Combat is awesome. Starts off a little simple, I think the first map takes slightly too long but holy smokes the combat gets so good as the game gets going. - Skill tree and upgrade progression systems are well done - Feel super satisfying when you parry/dodge. Parrying/dodging/dashing through enemy attacks can all trigger an incredible counterattack (probably what you see in the …

I warped back to a previous area that is now covered in poison, now stuck because the item (to combat the poison) you need is in a different area but now die to poison damage trying to warp back out. Complete waste of time, not worth the hassle. Happy to change this review if its not a bug.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels very low budget and kind of hinky. Cool skill progression but you never really need them because there are about 5 enemy types. So, maybe you can do a cool block and combo you don't really need to because the enemy shoots like one bullet or has a limited move set. You can also just hit them with the sword and be done with it. The biomes are separated by portals and not connected which is an odd choice as well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First let me say, if you like side scrolling, metroidvaia games, purchase this and support the devs DESPITE my negative review. But It Needs a bit of work from what i have seen thus far! Others have gone through many issues (go read other comments) but I don't dislike this game and I WISH I could put a neutral review, it just needs a lot of polish. (c'mon steam isn't it about time for the neutral) My personal 2 major flaws - Analogue sticks to move with controller! firstly since its a side…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great underrated Metroidvania. Lots to unlock, build and weapon diversity are great. I went for Demon Sword Static buildup build but the mid game crit build and early game speed build look great if you can pull of combos that fast. The combat is simple but each move you unlock changes it wildly and if you play on Normal or Hard you need to learn those moves as you chose to unlock them. The progression system is great, it has these different elements and some early abilities only require 1…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun idea but extremely clumsy and buggy. -Parrying, dodging, and dashing all accomplish the same thing as far as I can tell. They all do some damage and then let you pick a big counter to perform. If there's a reason to have all 3 options I haven't seen it yet. -Parrying is unfun because every other time you do it the game goes into bullet time for you to pick a cool flashy counterattack that I don't want to do at that moment. My rhythm is completely thrown off by forced cinematic slowdown…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Devil Within: Satgat is a game that often dazzles with its promise but stumbles in execution. It’s worth keeping an eye on for patches and updates, as it has the potential to rise above its current flaws and become something truly special. In The Devil Within: Satgat, you’ll find yourself toggling between demon-slaying action and a electrician work—a joke as a recurring gameplay element is activating power switches. The game offers a visually clear and readable environment, with a map…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a thumbs in the middle. I started the Game first in September 2025 and after 17 minutes, after a few steps and fights I didn't want to play anymore, so I stopped. It just felt too weird and janky and it also looked that way. Now February 2026, I started the Game up again with the intention to finish it. Took me ~13 hours to 100% the Game but it was a slog. The 13 hours are over a timeline of 3 - 3 1/2 weeks because I couldn't play more than 30-50 minutes max. I was not enjoying it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I could give a neutral review I would. Ultimately there isn't really anything new that has not been done before. That being said there are some flaws that can't be ignored. Some really annoying enemy types in the 3rd area and some of the sound mixing is really atrocious. If I had to give it a score I'd say 7/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review After 100% Achievements This is a super cool game that really hooked me with its combat! This title is still in early access, but gameplay feels smooth and I ran into no performance issues even while doing my second playthrough on my Steam Deck. The trait upgrading system is unique and worked really well. Level up using souls’ currency and receive orbs that you can place into traits that interest you. Cannot wait to see how it is expanded on in future updates and see what content is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the game, got all achievements, the game is awful. Cons: - high reuse of enemies and bosses; - challenge to kill the same boss multiple times for good rewards; - overall not fun gameplay, targeted fighting boring enemies; - enemies are dumb, and most of them you can kill from another platform by shooting them or hit-and-run strategy; - no invisibility period after damage, if you got multiple projectiles damaging you, you are dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Admittedly I haven't given it much time, but it doesn't feel great and is quite bland/mediocre from what I can tell. There's some stale dialogue, dull enemies.. There is a small delay when opening your map (it doesn't feel smooth). From what I've played and read of others, the game is very linear for a long time and only opens up so much later on. Not enjoying this soulslike enough to want to play through it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m not a fan of metroidvania nor 2D platforming game. But i enjoy couple first of hours of this game offering, thus i might keep playing until 100% completion. I like the “souls-like” / rpg feature like bonfire and skill tree. It gives you sense of progression and character development while simultaneously making your gameplay more fun. But at current state, i think more refinement could be made to make the experience more enjoyable in future updates: Enemy re-spawn when you go back to…

neutral · AI labelView post →Satgat is a 2D action-platformer with a heavy focus on combat. It's got all your staples like upgrades to movement and attacks, incremental stat increases and losing collected "souls" on death. There's a nugget of an interesting game here with the lore and combat system, but the game just falls short. The combat is very cluncky, it feels like there is a significant input delay - getting your character to move and attack the way you want just feels... wrong. This is not much of an issue with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A relatively new studio with this being the second game in their portfolio. The story feels like mustache-twirling-levels-of-evil generic storytelling for both villain and hero. But It did have satisfying combat and platform mechanics and gameplay. To the very end there was always something new going on that kept the game from getting stale. It'd give it a solid 80/100 that is a decent time for a metrovania style game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such an awesome game. its fluid and fun and it has some nice skill trees. its not perfect but I'm glad I got it. the gameplay is so addicting. I tried the demo, bought the game now 8 hours later I'm writing a review. I'm no Skillup with words but buy this game. one complaint I have is the game needs more weapons. I have about 15 hours in and found 4 weapons. 3 of the weapons I found were within the first 2 hours. a rubber chicken that I found was the most powerful weapon and I found…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some good design ideas but sadly the implementation is just severely lacking. The upgrade system is needlessly convoluted with multiple colours that you get a random amount of per level up needed for almost any upgrade path. It's just pointlessly specific. If you just replace it with basic run of the mill skill points you have the same outcome with a more coherent and streamlined system. The game wants you to perfect parry / dodge but it's actually pointless to do so when whacking…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Gives me the nostalgia of Rockman mixed with Onimusha .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it on steamdeck. The game is super janky looks pretty bad like Unreal Engine slop. Performance isnt great on steamdeck with default settings floating around 30-40 fps. Game seems to be built around parrying/dodging but it feels so unresponsive when trying to parry or dodge. Feels like they played Sekiro and wanted to make a 2D platformer with Sekiro mechanics but not as smooth. Game balance is also terrible on hard where enemies start to become sponges by the 3rd world and the…

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm enjoying it! It's not a blockbuster or anything, but it has solid combat mechanics and pretty decent exploration. The story seems a bit generic, with an amnesiac protagonist with a spooky demon arm. Nevertheless, the core game play is quite enjoyable, so if you're a fan of the genre, definitely give this one a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good Soulsvania. If you like these type of games, this is a solid choice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid Korean Metroidvania. I like the sword arts melee combat and overall exploration is pretty good. Towards the final battle is a bit frustrating but nothing too bad. Had a great experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun, very nice game. Unexpectedly very cool areas. I pkayed on normal mode which was not so hard but still challenging. To 100% it is super easy, just explore and no need for guides at all. Ignore the bad voice acting and scriptnwriting hehehe. Ypu shall enjoy this medium size metroidvania.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →one of the best games i have played this year hands down..i rly love the "souls like" feel and game play. And for 16.99 right now its an absolute steal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great year for Metroidvania and rogue-lites, I think the souls label is being used far too often especially since that word alone turns some people away. If this game is souls like then the New Prince of Persia is also. They are similar, obviously with much different folklore and story telling. The flow is similar, the value of parrying vs dodging, the powering up of parkour/agility skills. I’m hooked on them both, although I’ve only just begun this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loving this game so far. Beautiful graphics, smooth gameplay, available in the 21:9 aspect ratio. The combat is creative as you can unlock and choose different ways to take down enemies. Personally, I like the narrative and ambiance. The first boss was a challenge for me, and I enjoyed it. Still haven't finished the game. The negative feedback about the areas feeling 'sparse' couldn't be further from the truth in my opinion. I suppose if you want an action packed metroidvania with enemies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is pretty fun. Exploration wasn't great, platforming was meh, story was fine. Combat is alright, but it's mostly parries, The bosses and elite enemies are killed fastest by using the parry or dodge counter-attacks. I'm not usually too good at parrying, but you eventually get an upgrade to the parry window. There is another mechanic that will fill up a stun bar and then allow you to do an ultimate attack on the boss. Parrying seems to shoot that thing up faster than anything else. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Check my Steam Guide to improve the graphics as unfortunately if you disable TAA the game renders at a lower resolution than intended. This is easily fixed by editing the config files. If you don't tweak it, the game will look like it's 720p if TAA is disabled. --- It's good, but could have been great with a bigger budget or longer development time. The combat carries the game hard, it's quick and responsive, parries feel great and the special attacks look nice. Exploration + movement are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheap, clunky but not bad The first things you will notice - UE cheap visuals with clunky animations (especially in "cinematics"). If you are not too concerned with visual part - the game is not that bad. We have: Parry system Dodging\dashing Skill tree, weapon upgrade system Ranged weapons, swords artifacts and trinkets 4 different bioms Boss challenges But almost every aspect of the game is lacking (with the exeption of parry system). Skill tree is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun platformer. Kinda hard for me cause i'm very bad at parry stuff, i'm a button smasher. Not really a metroivania, you only backtrack for some chests after you find keys. Very well done tho graphics and move set, story and all. Quite fast gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give this a meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good gameeplay if u like parry
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can look past the budget feeling aspects of the game, it's a $25 indie game after all. But I still have major gripes with the combat. I think the combat system that they within the game is solid enough. I enjoy being able to duke it out with the stronger enemies. The problem is that 99% of the enemies you will face are generic minor enemies that you can stun lock before they get a chance to hit you. I decided to quit playing the game once I realized that 95% of the game is holding left…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Put together a map pack for "The Devil Within: Satgat" based on the game's full release. 6 maps total, with JPG and PNG versions of each. Enjoyed the game but your mileage will vary with this one as it is a soulsvania and has some... interesting... voice acting for the English dub. #metroidvania
neutral · AI labelView post →A tentative recommendation on this one. Reviewing on steamdeck. Pretty decent arpg metroiddvania. Held back some by technical issues. Lag, camera bugs, stuff like that. It lacks polish but its a good time if you just want a fairly generic feeling metroidvania with souls inspired combat. Movement feels slow and clunky, probably my biggest complaint early on. Stuff like ledge grabs and environment hitboxes feel inconsistent and unsatisfying. All said it is a pretty decent game that's worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’re looking for something amazing to play and you love the following: 1. Metroidvania Games. 2. Soul-likes but in the level of Hollow knight, Blasphemous, etc. 3. Same, if you like Blasphemous, Sekiro, Nine Sols, Hollow Knight but in a 2.5D setting or art style. Then this Top-notch game is for you. Also, I recommend playing it on Korean which makes the game more immersive and for me the Korean voice actors did a better job on the voice-overs. Works amazingly on the ally, both on the X…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good mentroidvania, as the skill tree unlocks the player character definitely plays. Hard for the dark souls difficulty. Fair but punishing. Happy with the game so far. Yo, spoiler alert, you're fighting demons and its pretty cool. Not sure but I think I'm a samurai exorcist. update 2: yup totally just killed a demon. Also I think the main characters name of Mr Stagat is technically Mr. Hat. :insert Mr Garrison meme: update 3: Still has a couple of bugs that require hard reloading a save…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE the music in this game but also the whole vibe and story as far as I have been is really good and the fighting style is also really good. I can only recommend this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have nothing but good things to say about this game. If you enjoy well designed combat in a platformer with a variety of interesting skills, I think this is one of the better new games out there. The story is well written, but for me, the gameplay is where this one really shines. I am very much looking forward to see what the devs accomplish during the EA phase, but as I mentioned in a recent discussion post, I truthfully forgot the game was in EA given how well it's currently put together.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not a fan of the story and characters. K-pop anime is not my thing. The gameplay is fun at times until the crashes and bugs shine through. The Devil Within needs some polishing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*****5star crashed. uninstalled and installing it again, hope it works, if it helps the dev i have a screen record. 5secs of playing and it just hang/crash. still hoping. i'll change my review if it works.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily one of the best, battle-driven metroidvanias out there. Skills, fights, dodge/parry and movement mechanics are 10/10. Concentration time freeze is so much fun. Steep learning curve, as it should be, and very rewarding exploration. There's enough uniqueness to make it stand out among others. Loving everything about this game and will surely replay on hard mode

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a modern game, released in 2024, but it very deliberately carries the feel of an older era. It is playable, functional, and often enjoyable, yet it immediately signals that it is aiming for a retro, console-born sensibility rather than modern action smoothness. That intent comes through clearly, for better and worse. Running at high frame rates does not make it feel more responsive, it actually highlights the design philosophy. Animations, inputs, and state changes are rigid and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This probably one of the most underated metroidvania, I've ever played. GOOD POINTS: - The game is challeging if you play in hard. You are obliged to learn the mechanics of parry and dodging to get through it. - The game offers you different combat styles, depending on your fighting style. - It's quite cheap if you get it on sale. - There is no woke propaganda. - Its history is not the best but it works BAD POINTS: - You have to farm a bit in order to improve your weapons - In some parts of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great metroidvania. if youre a fan of samurais and metroidvanias then this is an easy sell. im lvl 38 right now and im 8 hours in id say the game is 8/10 - 9/10. when everything is clicking you feel like such a savage when getting perfect parrys and clearing the screen. no better feeling then dying to a boss over and over till you beat so bad that you get the ultimate stun that takes 1/3 and evaporates the enemy by holding Y. buy this game buy it at full price it doesnt matter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's my first souls game and I feel I want to play more souls game now. I reached the Devil Shinman boss on hard mode playing for 5 days. It's amazing in terms of colors, graphics, mechanics, music and everything. Still, got some bugs that I believe to be fixed in the future. I still strongly recommend it. Amazing Job!
