Will 100% crash if America goes independant and you are not playing them Which in 2026 is hilariously ironic, if not sad. It has to do with US commander Cloudsley Croucher, who if he moves into any US held town center, the game will crash. If he is killed in battle, the game will crash. If the US gets wiped out (thus wiping him out) the game will crash. I've found no mods that fixes this issue. There are workarounds …

This review is written with Total War players in mind. As such, it will not adress basic gameplay that is inherent in all Total War games, such as turn based production and real time battling, but rather will compare Empire: Total War with other Total War titles. As a Total War fan, my personal preference goes to this title, Empire. I like most Total War games, but Empire stands out to me. For one, I enjoy the …

Empire Total War is like making the world's best cake recipe, then trying to cook it in the cheapest oven you could get, for half the recommended time. The ambition is admirable but the tech of 2009 seems to have undermined much of this game in retrospect. Land battles especially can be painfully janky, especially in the way units interact with terrain. Unit behavior in general can be infuriating, especially with …

Empire Total War is a game about managing power on a global scale. While it may initially appear to be a traditional Total War title focused on battles and expansion, its true strength lies elsewhere, on the campaign map, across oceans, and in the long term consequences of strategic decisions. Seas, logistics, trade and long-term planning define the experience far more than individual battles. The game excels at …

Indian overpopulation makes the game crash.

Players who liked Total War: EMPIRE – Definitive Edition talk about best naval battles in the Total War series; those who didn't talk about frequent crashes and save corruption in late game. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Empire: Total War received "universal acclaim" according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Reviewers praised the large scope of the game's strategy map PC Gamer UK noted that the game "takes a great deal of its design philosophy from the events and trends of its era", which enabled the game to reasonably reflect the challenges faced by the factions' historical counterparts. Praise was also given to the extensive number of factions, down to very small factions such as the Knights of St. John and a renegade pirate settlement. Kieron Gillen, reviewing for Eurogamer, described the campaign map as "endless" and due to the large amount of content, observed that he had managed to…

neutral · AI labelView post →right now I can pay 20 dollars for Warhammer Total War III, a game that could scarcely even be imagined in 1998. that's the equivalent of 10 dollars in 1998 prices, which is what I would try to scrounge together for a copy of PC Gamer so I could play one janky level of Myth on the demo disc

STATE OF DECAY 2, a bit. I'd take a TOTAL WAR with base management but a smaller -- oh shit it's CULT OF THE LAMB.
neutral · AI labelView post →AI slop is impacting all of our lives in different ways but the more recent way it has broken my heart is watching Creative Assembly ruin the Total War franchise with it with their rerelease of Shogun 2. I can only imagine how fucked their 40k game is going to look when it comes out.
