At it's core it is just the original TSW from years ago rebadged for another yearly release in an attempt at keeping it in the sales charts, it has the same bugs which DTG had promised for years to fix, it still has features promised years ago to be implemented, or implemented properly so they are actually usable. Visually nice and easy to get into, though it can feel a bit repetitive if you just want nonstop action. Perfect if you like relaxing simulation games.

I have played this game a lot, and indeed the series since Train Sim World 2. But this is the end of the line. The same problematic game engine has been tweaked for years, yet it has somehow never become a better game. By this point, the developer Dovetail Games are stuck. They re-release tweaks to the game every year, for which you have to pay to download new (often buggy) routes to be able to experience any of the new features. The new features almost never apply to the routes released prior…

its just train sim world 2 but repackaged again and again and again and again oh and it still runs terribly xD maybe they could... oh i don't know... focus on fixing bugs and performance issues rather than releasing more and more buggy and unoptimised slop for £30 oh and they still sell older routes and such for full price without even updating them with a single new feature... very cool!

As I understand it Train sim world 7 is coming are way, Dovetail Games should take a leaf out of SCS studio's , they don't make you pay out every 1 or 2 years for a new version they just up dates there games for free. ATS / ETS2 are 10 years old and going strong and that's because they care about the people who play there games. They updates free to make these games look fresh and to want people to play these game. Yes when they bring out a new map extension you pay for it if you want it but…

It's not worth it. I would only expect you to play TSW6 if you A) received it for free as part of the upgrade or B) if you have never played TS6 before. Don't pay for the upgrade. The same bugs as always exist - extreme hiccups, slow loading, visuals have the same defects. On top of that all of the new "features" are completely missing from the game until new DLC come out so you don't even get them without paying more, and even then the new DLC is buggy. Shameless cashgrab.

Reposting my reviews from TSW3, 4, and 5 here since this is the same game. I would stay away from this series. DTG has showed a lack of customer appreciation and has shown they really don't listen to the community. For years, myself and others have tried to give constructive feedback, and any criticism of the game is met with extreme backlash from DTG white knights and community partners who will never acknowledge anything negative about the game. If we never address the negatives and fix them,…

Fun detailed trains, but experience is constantly over-shadowed by terrible optimisation and shaders that process in game, rather than beforehand while you load in. The routes are quite beautiful and relaxing, just a shame it stutters like crazy. I want to play this as much as euro truck sim 2, but the stuttering is too bad man. Never seen a dev properly respond to these stuttering issues. Happy to change review if dev can acknowledge stuttering issues. The frequency of me saying the word…

Rating: 1/10 — and the entire point goes to one baffling decision: NO CLOUD SAVES. It's 2026. Steam Cloud is free for the developer and takes an afternoon to wire up. Dovetail didn't bother. Your entire profile and all your savegames live as local files and nothing else. No backup, no sync, no safety net. I reinstalled the game on a different drive — a completely normal thing to do — and my whole profile was gone. Wiped. I assumed cloud saves had me covered, like literally every other…

TL;DR - Dovetail Games does not care for your enjoyment of the game, their only care is harvesting as much money from you with as little effort as possible. "[...] and this year we have prioritised requests directly from you, our lovely community, you asked we deliver." ~Dovetail Games during Dovetail Direct 2025. Unless everyone wanted another re-release of the exact same game riddled with bugs, no one asked for this, nor did they for Train Sim World 5, 4 or even 3. With Dovetail's track…

Another year, another "new version" for TSW. Anyone who do not understand the reason yet: this way they can nuke all reviews for the game and all buggy, substandard, never-fixed many years old DLCs plus it puts them on the radar / best selling lists again. Same old, same old. Performance depends on the route - some run well, some are atrocious and run as bad as they did in 2018 when I had a i7-3770K and GTX 970. Even under the best circumstances and optimized routes, the runtime shader…

WARNING: Rant incoming :) Nope. This is not it, DTG. Sorry. After years of being alternatively excited and frustrated by DTGs releases, and being (just like pretty much everyone) annoyed with the yearly re-branding cycle, forcing players re-install the same game, and mostly being frustrated with most routes being way to short for my taste and often feeling like abandonware a few months after release, I jumped ship to SimRail. The TUTORIAL levels are bugged. I followed the instructions exactly, and am stuck in a level because it seems to think the brakes are stuck on. This is an issue I've seen other have online and apparently there is no fix besides restarting the level and hoping it works. Not the first bug I've seen in the game already, as in another mission the train would just not move forward, and after a few minutes of looking around to see what control I missed, it randomly started moving. Train Sim World COULD be one of the best train simulator, but it remains just a "could be" because the developers are overly profit driven and too lazy to exploit the simulator's true potential. For many years, the game's performance optimization was terrible. While it finally runs well after all this time, it is a shame that we had to wait years for this, and even now, bugs still occur from time to time during gameplay. But what is the biggest problem with Train Sim World? 1. Route Length…

first off, this game is identical to the previous 3 games in the series. the new features plastered all over the shop are not game-bound, they are dlc-bound. yet i'd be hard pressed to actually find it advertised as such anywhere. the dlc situation overall is absolutely, certifiably insane. to get a playable service you fancy on your spanking new dlc, you now need to purchase a separate dlc for another separate dlc! and yes, dlc for dlc is an actual thing here, has been for quite some time.…

Lots of negative reviews are from dedicated players frustrated by the Developer's business model. Fair enough. Game is overpriced: true. But for the few people reading this wondering if you'd like the sim: it is fun. It is fun if you enjoy learning the intricacies of safety systems. If you wing it, it will be frustrating. This is a paid DLC trap. The trains and routes given with the game purchase are few, the majority of routes and trains are behind paywalls. The game looks alright, performs less alright, but passable. I have a controller for this called Rail Driver and it just doesn't work with v6. Train Sim World 6 is a purchase I wish I didn't make. So, overall a weak product with greedy greedy crap of a developer.

Nope. There are some things I will not tolerate in 2026. Massive FPS drops and game stopping lag spikes are non-starters - and I mean to say like 1-2 second game freezes! The issues are well known across multiple game versions, apparently require an engine upgrade or rewrite to properly address, and Dovetail has already publicly said that is not happening. So performance is never getting fixed. First irritation was having to repeatedly log into a Dovetail account, so that immediately stopped…

This game is ok. It's fun once you play through every line once and deal with the horrible lag and chop. Apparently it clears up after you play the line once due to it doing "on-the-fly" shader building (Which is a horrible idea). I'm running a good GPU and decent CPU, no reason this game should chop. The DLC's are extremely overpriced and I will most certainly never buy one because of it. If the company wasn't so greedy and actually put out new games instead of slapping a new number on the old…

Game is one that I really enjoy. The Long Island Railroad is my favorite simulation. It is very realistic. I rode this line as a child and as an adult. When I am back on Long Island I ride it into NYC. The scenes I remember. I even discovered in the simulation the turntable behind Jamaica station in the roam mode. I am 86 years old. TL;DR Recommended if you are new to train simulation. It works well as a first contact with train driving, and helps you discover what you enjoy (kind of train/operations/line) before deciding whether it is enough for you or whether you want to move on to a simulator better suited to your expectations. Train Sim World 6 is, unfortunately, a textbook case of wasted potential. Built on a modern engine with full 3D environments and a huge DLC catalog, this should be the dream train simulator.…

If you'd told me this game came out a decade ago I'd believe you, that would at least explain the awful UI, bugs, and near-constant jittering while moving at any reasonable speed. The biggest red flag is the microscopic amount of base-game content and HUGE DLC pages that scroll for a VERY long time. They know their target audience - if you aren't a whale, avoid this garbage.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself enjoying realistic simulator games much more than fast-paced action titles, and this game definitely scratches that itch. So many train operations are constantly breaking for whatever reason, that will prevent your train from running properly. And they're aware of this so they put in a "I'm stuck, reset train physics" button in the pause menu. The gameplay is what you'd expect from a train conductor simulation, but the performance makes the experience hard to enjoy. Even if you're happy to just sit in the cab of a train for 10 minutes staring out of the window not doing anything until the next speed increase/decrease zone, the constant stuttering really pulls you out of the game. The game is generally fun and has great potential. However there are many situations which are more than frustrating. There are too many situations, where a train just dont drive and there is no tutorial in the world which can help you out. Restarting the game or the scenario sometimes solve things, sometimes not. Why is the keybinding area not searchable? A recent example of a stupid situation: I spend a long time riding my DB train from Leipzig to Dresden. It got a fault event, which is…

Cannot recommend this game. I received a Steam advertisement "Week End" sale promotion and looked at the limited reviews and believed them. This program is poorly designed and does not work smoothly. I tried for a couple hours and couldn't even progress past the basic scenarios without the program freezing. going in loops and not registering completed goals. I tried again for a couple hours the next day and same issue. Couldn't progress past the basic scenarios without the program…

This is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. Similar to Euro Truck Simulator 2, I'd classify this as a zen gaming experience. Bad weather outside? Pop on some headphones, open a podcast and learn something about trains.

Bad Tutorial and UI Design After struggling 1.5 hr with the tutorial, which most instructions are in text instead of UI hint plus you cannot even skip the boring narration, the game puts you in a total different locomotive for main game making the whole tutorial seems like a waste of time. While the pop up messages told player to turn on the "train safety systems", there are no related tutorials to be found in game. To me, this game is only bearable after watching tutorials made by youtubers…

One of the most problematic and controversial games I've ever seen. There is no other train simulator that could offer the same variety of trains from different countries with more or less decent depth and gameplay options. Other games might do each their own thing better, but are usually either limited to a single region (SimRail, Run8, Derail Valley), lack visual fidelity (Run8, Zusi, Maczina), gameplay scope (HmmSim Metro) or interactivity (Running Train, TS Classic) of TSW. However,…

I was very skeptical and hesitant at first, especially as others had noted the constant stuttering and lag, but after doing some searching online I learned something that seems to be completely true. Let me start off by saying YOU. WILL. EXPERIENCE. LAG. PERIOD. This is a ‘FEATURE’ , NOT a bug. The reason being is that the game loads the shaders as you drive the route so that means your first time playing every route you will have to load shaders and experience lag, does not matter how strong…

Insane. Made 6 versions of this now, and there are still bucks that should have been gone by Train Sim World 2. Stutters every time you earn experience, which is basically every objective on every trip. Just finished an hour journey and then game didn't even know what to do when i stopped as told. Tool tips even disappeared. Don't with this unless its like 90% off

I bought the deluxe special whatever edition and the MAJORITY of locos especially the really cool ones like the croco the scotsman etc are DLCs. One loco for £14. WOW. Try some of the other sims instead.

Too buggy and error prone. The BR294, soecifically, is near inoperable. Maybe that's how the real thing is, too. From what I can tell, the game just randomly decides when the throttle will no longer function regardless of troubleshooting steps. I always wind up needing to reset the Sim physics, and even that doesn't always work.

Just go play Derail Valley. Nah, the game is full of bugs, performance issues, jitters, struts, lag, whatever you want to call it. Went over the performance issues, did all the tutorials and jumped in a Scenario that starts at night. And I have questions for the developers, which, from the design of the game. never ever turned on a headlight to even a car. Do you even turn on your headlights to your own car when you drive? How can you make the headlights of the trains 5 meters in front of the…
