This is not it, guys I'm a huge roguelike fan, played all the most "famous" here on Steam, but this game is almost good, but... Pros: Really nice graphics and art style The world/story seems interesting and somewhat original As far as I could see, there is a good amount of weapons/guns Cons: Not being able to pause a run in the middle of it is terrible, just terrible. This is a qualified recommendation: I found this game whilst looking for Metroidvanias, but it is not. It's a platforming roguelite, but it is not a Metroidvania - there's no ability to go off and explore other parts of the castle (or whatever) for greater loot and experience to come back and roll through a section that's just giving you too much trouble. You die, you die, back to the beginning. There is, however, …

This game does a lot of things right. This is the only rouge-lite that I have stuck with because this game is very good. - Being that its a “metroidvania” style, there is not a steep curve in platforming as the run progresses. The levels are enough the same that you don’t feel like you are having to go through 15 minutes of pretty easy gameplay in order to get to the same part you died at last time. Might be a …

Just play Dead Cells, or Oblivion Override, or Entropy Effect. They are all better. Feels slow. You are constantly pulled to ledges every time you try to jump to a lower lever. It's like every ledge in the game has a tractor beam. Bug where you lose you progression items that seems to be years old. The difference between the 3 characters? One gets a wall jump and one doesn't have a double jump. Power-ups are weak. Too many instances of multiple enemies taking up the same space. Making it…

Middle of the road review. Decided on a thumbs up, which I talk about at the bottom. The TLDR; Mediocre at present, especially in a space where it is basically competing with games like Blazblue: Entropy Effect. It could be promising with some more work. Overall, kind of a disappointing experience given how nice it looks on the steam page. Flashy and beautiful, but plagued by some things that really bother me. Fortunately I think most of the things are fixable, so hopefully the…

Pros: - No contact damage Cons: - Movement is too floaty, and jumping has this annoying thing where your entire momentum (before reaching the max height) stops in 0.1 seconds, almost feels like you're hitting a ceiling every time you jump. - Enemies have that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Nier system (it's also in other games, but I know it from Nier) where their eyes flash before attacking, but it's not consistent, sometimes they attack 1s after their eyes flash, sometimes 2s, sometimes 0.5s, it's all over the…

After 14.5 hours, I'll expand my original review (you can find it at the bottom). It globally confirms what I thought of the game after the first 2 hours: it's really great. I had a lot of fun playing this game. Still need to finish it, but I did my first successful runs. This game is clearly a Dead Cells-like, but different enough to not feel like a clone. The gameplay is top-notch, inputs are responsive, and it's far more nervous than what the videos suggest. The lore and story are original…

Uninspiring, clunky, boring. I don't think I can find anything positive to say here. The worst enemy here are ledges and ladders. All my deaths were because of them. All levels are vertical, so every encounter have them. If you fight near stairs - you're screwed. Character will grab onto them midfight whenever she likes and you will be gang-banged by enemies and got stunlocked to death. If you fight near ledges - one wrong jump or dodge and character grabs ledge completely ruining your…

TLDR: Playtest could have saved this dumpsterfire. Plenty of better fish in this genre. There is certainly potential, but the complete lack of a tutorial explaining basic mechanics, combined with total run rng (No weapon for 2 levels? enjoy dealing 5-10 damage to the boss). Bosses in question look nice but are way overtuned. Unless you hit gold on the rng weapon drops and repeat the same boss mechanics for 10 minutes, then you wont get very far. The game proudly boasts about customizations and…

I would not call this a roguelite the meta unlocks are very trivial, limited and drawn out. They want to maintain difficulty. So if you see roguelite and think that you will be able to farm a bit to make it easier, forget it. You cant even revisit previous zones. You start the zones at level 1, gain exp which on level up scales enemies and your weapon drops level. The furthest zone you reach is where you will start if you die, again against their desired difficulty level. To be clear, assuming…

Short version: Don't play this if you want a MetroidVania. Also (this one is on me) I thought you can change your character and universe as you go. Can't understand why they have to lie about the game being a metroidvania. But if you like rouge like games, give it a try. The fighting is not bad. Weapons variety is good. The trinity idea is cool. And the time they put to design different enemies for each world is admiring. Could be a great Metroidvania. sigh...

Alright, here's a simple problem. There's a total of 14 different buttons to press: Your basic controls starts you off with Jump, Dash, Interact and Melee at 4. You can get up to 3 extra character specific weapons. Each character also has their own Traversal Ability, so there's another 3. You can also have 2 Abilities and 2 Consumables. Now what you get is a Keybind menu for your basic controls and consumables, locking in 6 buttons. The other 8? You can only use up to 5 at a time.…

Good game, but events, progress and resources are paced much too slow. I consider myself a veteran of souls, metroid, and rogue -likes with thousands of hours combined for all of them, and I noticed myself getting a bit bored in the early to mid game due to the insanely slow pace of new things happening or coming up. In my opinion, if the devs planned to make this game on the harder side, they should have not locked so much of the events or meta progress behind winning a run. A good model…

This is a typical “roguelike” game, where we have to climb through several game levels via a single run, and each failure pulls us back to the very beginning. During each attempt we accumulate some “persistent” currency, which can be used to upgrade our character, increasing chances of success for the next run. The cycle continues over and over again until the player's experience and purchased upgrades finally beat the odds and make it through the final boss. There are 3 playable characters: -…

Full disclosure, I'm friends with one of the voice actors who worked on this project. I didn't like this game. But I dislike all rogue-likes or rogue-lites or whatever the hell they're calling them now. I firmly believe rogue-like developers do so because building a game with a standard difficulty curve is too hard. So they make players play the same levels over and over again (instead of having an actual wealth of content), and implement a difficulty curve that's a smooth, straight line until…

The concept is intriguing and the art style was enticing, but the game fell flat for me. The thin plot is overly complicated and difficult to follow. The controls are imprecise, and I would often have to mash on a direction to get my skills to ever trigger (sometimes even this wouldn't work.) Combat, which should be the game's bread and butter, is tedious and sluggish. Weapons lack any significant qualities that make them unique, and no secondary weapon is ever as good as Frost Blast. The interesting, varied enemy designs have really clean animations, enabling a clarity in telegramming attacks which I find to be extremely rare in the genre (or at least, it’s rare that they click with me so well). Trinity Fusion isn’t a perfect action roguelike—it has its share of flaws—but it has a certain charm that kept me hooked throughout. The game looks fantastic, with strong visual design, and its metaprogression feels rewarding without being overbearing. It's an okay put together game, but that is sadly all I can say about it. The movement could feel more polished and snappy, the dialog feels stilted at times, during the cut-scenes you have no lip-movement despite focusing on the characters rather than just overlaying some art assets which would look much nicer. I don't think I can recommend this one, there's so much incredible stuff out there that you could look at in comparison.

Trinity Fusion, developed and published by Angry Mob Games, is a sci-fi action roguelite that blends fast-paced platforming, methodical combat, and a multiverse-hopping storyline into a tightly executed, yet occasionally uneven experience. At its core, the game sets out to offer a polished mix of Metroidvania exploration and roguelite unpredictability, with each run offering new weapons, enemies, and environments to overcome. This is a hard game to review. On the one hand, you can see from start to finish the passion by the team to create something remarkable. On the other hand, the plot and characters are a bit of a hit-and-miss situation where they don't have enough allure to make you really care for their ordeal. The combat is a bit too mashy for my liking but in general is funny. I guess that ,in the end, it is worth playing but there are some issues with some elements. Doesn't seem to be very fun. Not something I'd call a metroidvania either. You go through some biomes, die, buy some upgrades at the hub and restart from the beginning. Meta-progression seem very slow. Controls feel kinda janky. Your success seems to be very dependent on the random loot that drops. And I know I'm basically describing Dead Cells too, but that game feels fun and this one does not.

Metroidvania gameplay is very good, no complaints. The rougelite part I at first felt didn't really add anything, and I still don't, but I will acknowledge it does soften the worst part of a metroidvania. That is, being stuck on 1 part and just playing it over and over until you get good/lucky enough to get past it. Here you can switch things up by simply using a different character so you're not fighting the same enemies using the same style in roughly the same terrain over and over. There…

This isnt a bad game, its just ok. It adds little to nothing that makes me want to continue. I would rather just go play the superior inspiration.

In other words: changing this review from a NEGATIVE to a POSITIVE. Anyhoo... I read a lot. I mostly read sci-fi. Alastair Reynolds, Greg Egan, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Asimov, Clement; you get the gist. The story here feels like it's a split between Terminal World and House of Suns. And this is a good thing. The environments feel like they'd belong in…

Bottom line: it's a good time! Combat feels good, traversal is decent, and it isn't a huge time investment. Really creative premise, and the sci-fi style works well. Zero regrets here about supporting a small studio, and I'm delighted to see what they'll do next. If you're looking for gripes to go in with your eyes open: the amplifiers (run-specific power ups) don't feel great until you get your legs under you, and there's a weapon affix that shows up more often than I feel it should for how…

I will simply say. it's not bad but it's not overwhelmingly good either. there is some passion I feel in it and how it was made and stuff. the story and lore is alright but nothing that may have you really truly feeling for the characters or their worlds. mainly because outside of areas and gameplay mechanics we don't see the real effects of the places. like there's no visibly seeing how the worlds are effecting every day life or how civilians or random people are suffering. it's only…

The game begs me to write a review, saying the team worked 5 years to make this game. I'm outright infuriated at how much *worse* it is than Dead Cells in every regard that matters. Nothing unique in this game is good, and anything that is good, like parts of the core gameplay, Dead Cells does better, with much smoother controls and weapons that meaningfully matter. Absolutely do not fall for the "fuse parallel characters" nonsense. You have the same character across three different biomes…

Criminally Underrated. One of the most satisfying combat you'll experience in a 2D Sidescroller Roguelite game.

🎮: Next up: Trinity Fusion, a roguelite sci fi action game with handcrafted art by Angry Mob Games. Takes anywhere from 3-13 hrs to beat. It'll probably be longer knowing me 🫠 Also keeping up with Nine Sols #indiegames #currentlyplaying

This is one of those games that doesn't feel great at first but if you stick with it, it actually shows itself to be something pretty special. Let me explain: there are a lot of essential moves that aren't given to you right off the bat, such as parrying and doing a ground pound attack, but once you put in enough time to unlock those items, the game starts to feel great. I personally think they should always include two those aspects in the game immediately, but at least they are there at…

This game is a great and difficult roguelite, similar to dead cells where you get random weapon and item drops, challenging boss fights, and plays fluidly. It's worth the price if you enjoy this genre.

Hey! The previous game I worked on is currently one of Steam's Daily Deals! If you haven't tried Trinity Fusion yet, you're not gonna get it for cheaper: store.steampowered.com/app/1911360/...
