What people are saying

Mostly positive, with praise for scope and innovation, but some cite bugs and unclear progression.

Many players celebrate A Planet Full of Cats as the biggest and best Devcats game yet, praising its Metroidvania-style exploration, variety of puzzles, and heartfelt story. One fan calls it "by far their best game ever" (R9), while another notes it "keeps on giving" (R4). The art style and soundtrack are widely admired, and the game's length is seen as a major plus. [9][4]

However, a significant minority report frustration with bugs, lack of guidance, and tedious boss fights. One player says they "gave up" because they had "no clue what to do next" (R20), and another describes the game as "full of bugs" and "stressed me out" (R34). Some also note performance issues with the X-Vision feature on larger maps (R14, R15). [20][34][14][15]

Praised scope and variety · story and art · Metroidvania elements
Criticised bugs and performance · unclear progression · tedious boss fights

A Planet Full of Cats is a nice game but It's more like a puzzle than a hidden game. Compare to the others games, this one is extremely difficult, we don't have any hints to know what to do, we spending most of the time visiting rooms again and again and constantly checking the map to see where we are. We unlock the teleport at the end of the game with is completly useless. A good game is supposed to be played on your own without having to consult the guide but unfortunatly, if we want to…

I will automatically buy any DevCats game the second it releases. I love the style and the studio and I want to support them. This one feels more involved when it comes to story than past installments, which is incredibly exciting. That said, I've already encountered a few bugs, and I'm genuinely at a loss on how to progress with where I'm at because there's a lack of guidance here that is stalling me. Wondering if the bugs I'm encountering are halting my progression somehow. Either way, I…

I need to start by saying this breaks my “find cats” heart to give anything DevCats a bad review. I LOVE this company, and I will still buy each of their games, no question, but this one wasn’t it. The art is still cute, music is still a vibe, but it lost the original DevCats feel. It was trying to be a traditional puzzle game, very much not “find cats”. The cats were the easiest part ( in which I miss their ‘hidden cats’ so much ). Most time was spent not knowing where to go next if you miss…

I would love to recommend this game (just like all the previous titles) but I can't do that in its current state. After an hour of playing, beating the first boss and finding all the available cats and catnip, I am at a loss and cannot proceed. I have absolutely no idea what to do next. The progress is blocked by some ice, and I have no idea how to get past it. I am told by Leo to go do my main mission, but there is no main mission. I'm just baffled. Also, a hint button (similar to previous…

It saddens me to give this a 'not recommended', but it is the worst game in this series. It's full of bugs, it keeps crashing over and over. And all the backtracking and quests are really confusing. Instead of feeling like a cozy game this stressed me out.

This seems.... rushed. I like all the other games from Devcats and this one just doesn't have the same polish. You can't skip dialog, so if you misclick you have go through the same dialogs again and again with no skip. Unclear where to go next, and no map type navigation that the other games had. There is a map, you just can't use it to get around. It's a bit sad to see and I hope there is improvement going forward for other fans of the Dev's.

I want to preface this - I *love* these games and this Dev. However, this entry does not hold up to the standards set by previous entries. There are some issues that could change this review to a recommendation if they were patched, optimized and a little bit of quality of life updating was done. Pros: - Long playtime compared to other entries (5ish hours) - Lots of story - Reasons to replay/backtrack on different parts of the map - New Challenges Cons: - game doesn't load area screen if…

I am a big fan of Devcats and have played most of their “hidden kitty” games. Despite my general reluctance to embrace feline friendships in real life, I admit that I have taken a shine to Fofino and Lily. Plus, I'm a sucker for games that help out a cause close to my heart (animal rescue). A Planet Full of Cats is another worthy title. Hundreds of cats to find, a story to follow, and a chance to be a cat hero. A new mechanic was introduced which required you to find invisible hidden clouds…

A Planet Full of Cats, a World Full of Charm A Planet Full of Cats is probably the longest Devcats game I've played so far, taking me around 6 hours to complete. And honestly, I enjoyed every minute of it! The setting is charming, the story adds something extra to the experience, and there's a wonderful variety of environments and hidden cats to discover. More Than Just Finding Cats What I appreciated most was the variety. Searching for all those cats never felt like just repeating the same…

I'm sorry to say that I can't recommend this game unless some changes are made. Having played every other game in the franchise I'm hardly inexperienced in this adorable cat rodeo but this entry is simply frustrating and confusing. The reason is that there is absolutrly no indication of what do do next, nor any percentage meter for different areas. So you end up stumbling back and forth over and over again, looking for some tiny detail you missed - like finding a random rock on the floor on an…

Very good as always! But a Hint button would be nice. Edit: The Hint button is in the game, but it has to be earned as an upgrade, because it's a metroidvania game, with upgrades, deep story and a lot of puzzles. Also, I didn't quite expect to spend whopping 8 hours on a hidden objects game and even less I expected such depth and variety of gameplay! The game is completely worth it.

I love Devcats freaking much!! And with this new banger game, they have managed to increase my love for them even more! ↬ The story is more of a focus here than in the previous games, which I personally think is fantastic. There are many little puzzles, and the fact that you aren't explicitly told what to do makes it all more exciting, because it makes the world feel truly explorable. (I read that in future updates their adding questmarks, so you know where to go) Some of the hidden objects…

I love Devcats. I own all of their games and have 100%ed most of them, and I appreciate their adoption-promoting mission. (On an especially personal note, the games have been comforting after the death of our own beloved cat last year.) But A Planet Full of Cats is just not fully baked yet. While it's delightfully ambitious, it desperately needed more playtesting by people outside the developer team before being released. Even without addressing the many bugs that have been reported, at a…

so far, this game has been super fun! everyone complaining about a hint button to find cats maybe has not realized that there are breakable panels in some of the rooms that will open a separate room that gives you an upgrade after doing a puzzle. I got it literally within 10-20 minutes of playing the game. there could be more attention drawn to them in the first place, but as you're looking for the cats, you're going to end up clicking one of the breakable panels anyways. update: ok, would…

Doesn't matter what game it is, I am always going to support new Devcats game from day 1. The art style is fantastic, and I never get bored trying to 100% complete each one. After just 20 minutes of playing, I can already tell this is a banger and possibly the biggest Devcats game yet. My only small critique is the lack of a hint button, which can make finding the last one or two cats a bit frustrating at times. I’m not sure if this is something that unlocks later in the game, though.…

I honeslty don't regret spending my money for a good cause, however this game was not as good as the previous ones. The game felt like a chore to finish. I appreciate the effort put into everything, but I wish I could skip through dialogues and cut scenes. I had to sit through it all even though I genuinely didn't care about the story. Due to being forced to read the dialogue, I noticed some grammatical errors too. I will say that I liked the different puzzles you can do besides finding the…

This latest game from Devcats had surprisingly many negative reviews, around 10% right now and was down at mixed for a short while at launch. This in a genre where even the most basic games seldom get anything other than "overwhelmingly positive" as long as they have a base level of quality and from a dev that has quite possibly one of the highest avarage positive rating of all developers on steam. Playing it I can kind of understand why. Not that I agree, in fact I hope this is the direction…

I have played all of the search & find games that Devcats has made, so I can confidently state that this is by far their best game ever. The story behind the game is fun and the actual searching & finding isn’t too easy or too hard, it’s just right. The art style is perfect and the more interactive and moving parts in this game made it all the more fun! All of the errands that you have to do for the cats naturally sort of pushes you in the right direction across the map. And as you progress…

Not sure if game broken, bad design, or what, but I'm constantly lost, items in my inventory don't work, or I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. I'm told I need to use x-ray but it won't work. In the room I actually did get x-ray to work I find that I can't turn it off to leave the room except to quit the game and restart. Just seems like someone said "ship it" and they did at 75% done.

Edited to make it a positive recommendation as many of the below issues have been solved and the devs are actively working on it. I will leave the review up as-is until they are done and I replay to re-review. --- This is one of those games for which there should be a neutral rating. There is a lot of good in this game. A Planet Full of Cats increasingly leaves behind the cozy "find a bunch of cats" meditative feel that is what made earlier episodes so good. It's frustrating. Lots of aspects are locked and unintuitive. For instance, I have a "power paw" and there's no indication of where or how to use the "power paw." I am locked by an ice block, but there is seemingly no way to make the "power paw" interact with the ice block. I'm not asking for help with this one instance; I'm using it as an *example*…

Unfortunately, this is the first game i will rate as "not recommended." Way too tedious with the navigation, all the different upgrades, lots of backtracking and wondering what to do, bugs, crashes, and lag. The Xray portions on the big maps are absolutely awful, with so few FPS I could have counted them by hand. The main character has just decided to try to be the worst being in the game, constantly passive-aggressive, and made me wish I could just play without any dialogue. The bosses…

Unfortunately I found this to be the weakest of the series so far. The actual cat-finding part seems like it was not the priority - it was WAY too easy. I would say at least half the time I found everything on a first pass, no cute hidden cats or clever hiding places. Second, the structure was really frustrating, not just the literal backtracking but having to remember what every object was and whether I had used it or not. Third, the sound mixing was weird, and the ugly yelling from the…

Another great game from Devcats, though this one has some performance issues at this time when using X-Vision to hunt for some of the hidden objects, especially on one larger map. On launch, the game offers two settings, one for older PCs. Do try running the game under the other setting if you have issues. Other than that, if you have played their other games, you know what to expect from this, so I won't go into detail. If you haven't played them, I'd recommend starting with the older games…

X-ray vision sometimes feels really laggy on bigger maps which is annoying and makes it hard to see anything, but it can be fixed by leaving the room and coming back. I loved ALL the other games this developer published, but this is a chore to play. I'm stuck. There are dead ends where they don't give enough clues to guide you where you need to go next. Unless they come out with another update, they have the last dollar they'll get from me. People buy these games to chill and relax...they don't want an RPG or "guess what we want you to do next". Find the cats. Get it? Find cats. That's it.

A lot of thought and effort went into this pleasant intergalactic escapade. Folino and his troop of fun-loving fine-lined feline adventurers provide a delightful few hours of hide and go seek to relax after saving the Earth from demons, militia men or angry car-jackers. Would recommend to parents of snotty kids, lonely uncles or even the terminally neurotic as a way to fill a spare rainy afternoon or two.

Judy really shines in this one (YAY Tuxedo cats FTW!) and a huge sprawling map to explore with generous amounts of achievements. Thanks for a great game!

An absolute delight, a hugely impressive game with so much variety and killer soundtracks! Stunning story and art, truly insane how much the DevCats put into it. It makes your brain work and its got its bugs but its most definitely worth the effort to work through. I recommend joining the discord if you have trouble before most guides have time to be uploaded! Plus buying it goes towards a good cause so might as well give it a shot (its so worth it)

Another awesome game from Devcats, and easily one of the best. There was so much work and love that went into this and it shows. Multiple minigames and puzzles make the game feel so much fuller. If I had one critique it's that some of the puzzles are a bit too easy, and the bosses can feel a bit tedious, but those and really minor.

Although I enjoyed this game, I've enjoyed their past titles more. This game just doesn't have the charm that their previous games did. Things I enjoyed: - Partial proceeds from the game go to a good cause helping cats - It's still a relaxing object-finding game like the previous titles - Massive improvements in art direction (Although I feel the colour palette felt a little too highly saturated for my taste). - Great soundtrack Here's what I didn't enjoy: - The use of X-ray to find…

Not intuitive, and moving away from the actual hidden object genre. This is trying to be too much at the same time, and ends up being frustrating to play instead of relaxing.

A Planet Full Of Cats - A Purr-fectly Chaotic Space Odyssey Pros - An abundance of adorable little rascals hiding in plain sight. - Achievement hunting is thankfully free of mandatory DLC. - A refreshing departure from the series' usual tone, even offering some unexpected Syphon Filter undertones. - Scawy 2D Dark Souls styled boss battles. Kind of. - The original soundtrack features some seriously wicked tracks, one song echoing Com Truise's work. - A treasure trove of pop culture Easter…

    - there really should be some better hints, for when you missed some critical items, have to rely on a guide - the game crashes every time after I finish a certain type of puzzle (when you have to draw a line that passes all the dots along the pasth

While finding cats is fun, the puzzles are really confusing with what item needs to be used where. I gave up. It's not fun and chill, it's arduous and frustrating. The protagonist is not likeable at all, not even in a "flawed character" type way. I don't want to play as her, she's a ****. The first fast travel point doesn't work, just keeps telling me I need to find another one. Backtracking. Lagging with the x-ray vision.
