What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 189 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Overwhelmingly Positive (1,240 of 1,266 positive).
Players find the game relaxing and charming, with a heartwarming story about cat rescue. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note frustrating mini-games and overly bright colors that cause eye strain. [4][5][6] Many appreciate that purchases support real-life cat shelters and rescue efforts. [7][8][9]

More Cats, More Relaxation By this point, Devcats has established a very recognizable formula, and A Shelter Full of Cats follows it with confidence. If you've enjoyed the studio's previous hidden-object games, you'll immediately feel at home here. The objective is simple: explore the shelter, find all the cats, and help give them the attention they deserve. It's a straightforward concept, but one that continues to …

This isn’t a bad game by any means, but for me it was the least enjoyable in the series. I actually found my eyes hurting while playing. At first I didn’t think the colors were that different, but looking back, this one is noticeably brighter and harsher to look at. I kept having moments where I’d think, “I clicked there,” or found myself frustrated with how little of some cats were visible on the screen. This …

This game hits so close to home for me. I'm a 19 year old who has a house full of special needs foster cats who have gone through FIP treatment and some even survive PARVO. This game is a work of art (just like all the previous games) that speaks to me on a really personal level. It is insanely hard to get cats adopted out that are special needs and this game does such a wonderful job showing how great chronically …

TLDR: A cozy, vibrant hidden object game elevated by charming minigames and a heartwarming story. Just expect some semi-frustrating pixel-hunt moments when "cat items" stretch the definition thin. PROS: ➕Vibrant artwork ➕Music ➕Cozy feel ➕Good hint option (Recharge, right from the start) ➕Passionate devs that support a good cause ➕Inclusion of minigames CONS: ➖I don’t like finding the “Hidden” cats - it turns the …

Another great entry to the Devcats series! This is definitely the most important title they've released, too. There's some advice for subjects like how to care for an orphaned kitten should you end up in that scenario, as well as teaching about certain conditions and sharing some other facts too. This title leans more into story than others, where you help Hannah out on her grandparents' farm, finding the cats in …

97% of the 189 Steam reviewers we collected recommend A Shelter Full of Cats. The complaint that keeps coming up: frustrating mini-games and pixel-hunting. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

neutral · AI labelView post →I decided yesterday to go back to finish another Hidden Cat Game called A Shelter Full of Cats. 🐈🎮 It's the type of game that's really relaxing and fun to turn your brain off with. It even has Easter Eggs to other ones that DevCats have done! ☺️
positive · AI labelView post →I always had a preference for the other Devcats games given their more fictional nature or I can also mention the arcade version which was a haven for gamers considering the many video game references. With shelter I have come full circle (as I own the entire library) and while it's nice to have everything at your disposal I feel a bit of shame. Shame that I prioritised the other titles over this one, the one that seems to be focusing most on our lives with stray cats. We now have a farm…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't quite as flawless an experience as previous games in the series due to some rather naff mini-games (I mean really annoying!), but other than those frustrations (and the typically repetitive music) it's still the same hidden cat goodness that we've come to expect from these devs. Oh, and one additional kvetch is that in absence of visual cues as are found in other similar games to find super "hidden" felines, e.g a cat who only appears if you click on a potted plant that it was…

These are cute games, mostly hidden object, many are free. The dev team's cats feature in the games. www.devcatsgames.com

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy cats, hidden objects and sitting back and relaxing, then this game is for you. Well worth the time and cost. Simple menu's, animations, transitions, music.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It hard to look at some of these colors used, they are just too bright and clashing around. After some changes with my color settings I can play the game. It's okay, not as great as others. I didn't like that I was searching where to go every time, maybe it's related to me not being interested in the story. But I was lost often. Also I had a couple of grey screens in between switching on the map.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why did the hidden cats game make me cry last night thinking about the cats being adopted. <3 Anyway, this ons is delightful! The game is relaxing and the developer supports rescuing cats.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been a long standing fan of the Full of Cats series by Devcats. The colors, the frivolity, the painstaking artistry- these are the things that have kept me coming back for these simple hidden object games. I love transforming little devil or ghost cats into angels and resolved spirits. I loved traveling through time with them, and even going to space. I did not enjoy Shelter Full of Cats. I did not like that there was this childlike woman with all this land and her hoard of cats. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still like clicking on cats. So far this has been my favourite of the series
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →11) A Shelter Full Of Cats 🎮 Finished? Yep! This is one of my favourite indie series - finding all the cats in areas and stories. In this one we have to locate all the cats hiding in a new farmhouse shelter. The art is a joy, and the puzzle aspect really scratched an itch in my brain 🤌🐈
positive · AI labelView post →Even though there’s no cat shelter anywhere close to me — not a single one — I still want to brighten up at least one tiny life. I’m sending all my good vibes to the kittens who get donations from my Devcats game purchases — may they grow up healthy and happy, no matter which game I choose! And to the amazing Devcats team: thank you from the bottom of my heart! You’re truly making this world a brighter place!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice cat finding game with a decent amount of levels. By buying the game, you also help rescue kittens & cats. So that's a definite plus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much. The overall message, the story.. it all hit too close for me as someone who used to rescue and care for a lot of stray kitties. This is the first time in a really long while that I've cried because of a game, so heartwarming and brought back so many memories for me. It is NOT a sad game, but it can make you emotional lololol I was crying so much during the 'Dream' part. It's a simple game, you click on the cats, find hidden ones, and just enjoy the story and artstyle,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, far too many tiny bits of cats, non-cats, and vaguely cat-shaped stickers to make it fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eeeeee I love all the games in this series so much but I felt like the art was especially pretty here!! As usual the gameplay was top notch and I loved the addition of some new puzzles to spice up gameplay! Really enjoyed finding all the cats, especially in the kitten room which made my heart MELT the first time!! A surprisingly content packed experience!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, one of their biggest yet, for the money and support of cats, it is a no brainer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hidden object puzzles with both beautiful art and a beautiful ethos. Such a fun way to relax for a few hours, a simple concept done really well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just can't stand the storylines, okay human bad animals good. Humans deserve sufferings animals don't. How do we judge animal morals? If they can't be held accountable for what they do, then they can't do any morally good stuff either. Otherwise it's unfair. How about just letting the cuteness of the cat speaks for itself instead of turning it into a moral lesson. It's extremely offputting
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple, cozy, fun game that you can spend a couple of hours on. Finding the cats in sometimes unusual spots or funny positions is a treat. The game has a really good message, and through the journal pages you can learn more about illnesses and other various things.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun and cute as always
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very funny and cozy game. You spend several hours hunting each achievement and it has a very important message for players! Please support the devs and the cats!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cats everywhere you look. I loved the little Link from the legend of zelda reference in one of the rooms :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the focus on advocacy for cats in shelters and community kitties in this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another cute game, where you need to “pet” all the cats. I liked this game a bit less than “A Building Full of Cats 2” because I didn’t really like the idea of a “main quest”, where I could not freely move around until the different places were unlocked. However, I really like how the game presents some facts and information about cats in a “playful” but still serious way (e.g. cats and bees). I think this makes it easy to remember the facts and although the information might seem obvious for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I always enjoy finding the cats and it's such a cute game. I think it's well worth the money I spent on it and I always love supporting Devs that are trying to help out cats in need. :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These games are so cute! I love the fact that buying these games helps cats in real life, providing income and support for strays and cats up for adoption. The game itself is so relaxing, I love listening to music and just focussing on finding all the missing cats. This one was especially fun because it had so many different parts to it, and I liked how the story came together. There was some cute art at the end and I'm so glad to hear Pepeto got adopted!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a great and heartwarming game. If you love hidden object games and cats then you'll love this. It's very relaxing to play and I highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another win for devcats! This my second kitty scavenger hunt - this was a lot more interactive with various objectives throughout the game & with two friendly faces to help along the way. You can tell the creators really care about the story & I will continue to support the devs by playing each one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another enjoyable hidden object game. - 2.5hrs playtime - All the cats look more or less like cats - Zoom and scrolling were good and easy to use - No glitches or technical difficulties I wasn't a fan of the hint system. The rest of this review will just be me complaining about the hint system. - The hint system might be the worst I've ever seen. Sometimes it's fine, and moves the screen to an area with a hidden cat, and highlights the cat with sparkles. Other times it flicks the screen…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is frustrating and depressing. I've enjoyed previous games by these devs, but think this will be my last. I don't need to be focusing this intently on sick/injured cats for an hour at a time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →decent little find and seek game with some occasional minigames and a positive message
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super chill hidden picture game. Worth the few dollars for sure.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly such refreshing game. it's simple (finding hidden cats) but the concept and artwork behind every location/cats is so beautifully done. enjoyed this a lot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely loved! So sweet and also teaches some information on caring for kittens and FIV.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth it! Support your local rescues and shelters!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So cute, cats hidden very well in some parts
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really sweet game. I loved finding all the kitties and learning about real kitties that have disabilities. I also love that this game supports cats in shelters.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like all of the devcats games, this one does stand out from the rest. i liked how this game depicted disabled/injured cats - my little tripod finally has rep in the devcat gameverse. as per the name, this game really encourages shelters and teaches you more about taking care of/adopting cats than the others. very sweet
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely adore this game! My autistic 5-year-old and I play together and it has helped him so much in improving focusing his attention and communicating where he sees a cat. Bought a couple of other devcats games so we can keep going ;-)
