Quite fun and challenging for the first 5-10 hours, afterwards its a walk in the monotonous black and grey park with same decorations and unskippable animations. Customization is ok but the game is too easy and snowball-ish to really explore the build tree. Once you start doing well there is nothing that really stops you from accelerating, even on very hard difficulty.

This is a really great game for those who like intricate and complex turn based games. The main problem is that it starts slow, and I think a lot of people might get through a few missions and think "this is it? just shoot, wait for cooldown, repeat?" it's a slog at first, but it absolutely blossoms out about a third of the way through and remains on an upward trajectory from then on. If you like turn based games or …

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is one of those games that knows exactly what it wants to be and executes it very well as it doesn't try to overcomplicate itself just for the sake of depth. Instead, it leans into a focused, tactical experience that feels deliberately clean and rewarding. If you are coming from something like XCOM, you will notice right away that Mechanicus is a bit lighter in terms of complexity as the …

It was the newest trailer for Mechanicus 2 that reminded me I had this game in my library and I figured I'd give it a go, what with the sequel coming out in two (2!) days. In short, while I am cautiously optimistic about the sequel, Mechanicus 1 is a bit too rough around the edges for me to wholeheartedly recommend. For starters, Guillaume David's soundtrack is by far - by far! - the strongest point of the game and the vibes it brings are immaculate. It does get repetitive because there…

I hate turn-based games. I suck at them, I do not enjoy them at all. Bought this title on sale, not checking what it is, so I was really upset after launching it, knowing I will prolly just quit and never look at it again. Over 20 hours late, here I am, kneeling before my Mighty Machine (PC), playing tirelessly, Space Organs Churchwave on full volume, absolutely disgusted by the weakness of my flesh. Mechanicus is a fun and flavorful version of XCOM. Completing all missions on normal took me 30 hours. I prefer the base game without the DLC. The tutorial is fantastic but forgets to explain the following: There is an "Awakening" meter that will force you into the end-game if it's maxed out. To slow it down, break "Terminals" during each mission and avoid exploring entire tombs. You will learn the rest with trial and error. Purge the Xenos. Praise the Omnissiah.

While the game itself IS fun, I don't like games with "reverse difficulty" (and this is one of them). You start with missions which are really really hard and become easier the more you progress to a point where it's *really* easy. And you can't change the difficulty to spice up things. This is just not good game design. So: Does this game deserve a recommendation? No. Does it deserve a "don't buy" warning? No. = One of the games where the "thumbs up"/"thumbs down" does not really work.

It's just too annoying to play and I LOVE turn-based strategy. It's basically a tabletop game squeezed into a computer game, with none of the annoyances of tabletop gaming removed bar having to put all the bits away when you're finished. Plus the dice are loaded against you and the DM is a prick. The over-map section is extremely annoying. You have to move room to room, with each room triggering an event with 3 choices. In theory this is good except it's not because you cannot make it through…
