I have tried to like this game several different times now, but I give up. The character progression system just completely ruins it. It's waaaaay over-engineered and uninteresting. Once upon a time Owlcat tried to make an extra buck from their fanbase by putting spyware in WotR so they could sell their marketing data to make more money and people rioted against it and they ran it back. Failing to learn that lesson Owlcat has now created a launcher whose job is to rake your computer for market data so they can sell it to make a buck. For those saying its ok you can turn it off in the settings, well you cannot run the game.exe without the launcher, if you turn off the…

I once thought everyone deserved to be heard, that through dialogue we could bridge our differences. I was wrong. Elves are all bastards. They are irrational, emotional and have no consideration for other sentient beings as soon as their passion takes the wheel. It is impossible to speak with them on an equal basis; Elves will never realize that the ambient smell of grokshit comes from their collective pants and they would instead blame everyone else for their shortcomings. Pros: Story, character building, turn-based strategy, music, choices that matter, surprises, tons to do, dark Warhammer 40k universe, voice acting, replay value, continued support by devs and new significant new content being released (even more coming), and more. Overwhelming at first (first run abandoned after roughly 20 hours) it gets easier to digest if you manage to resist the first 20 to 30 hours, due to an absolute ridiculous number of skills to choose from at characters level (and all characters level up at the same time...and they are many, towards the end of the game). However, if you are into these sort of games (i.e. isometric turn based RPGs) and like the 40K setting, this is a must play. There is also a lot to read...and I mean A LOT. It is…

It's with a heavy heart that I give this game a thumbs down. I own Pathfinder, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous and Rogue Trader. None of them are bad CRPGs in their own right but I've not finished a single one. CRPGs are my favorite genre by far. Abelard, publish my recommendation for this game, will you? Owlcat is in my unhumble opion the master of party CRPGs with turn based tactical combat. They showed it with their pathfinder games and now continue it in an impressive way into the Warhammer 40k universe. I´m not so much of a 40k fan normally, i prefer their fantasy world, but the rogue trader adventures even made me buy their novel (Rogue trader trilogy - it´s a good read). Man, I really do like Owlcat games, but their games are becoming way too long for their own good. I started Rogue Trader back in November 2025 and played a large chunk of it until late December, where I clocked in just under 100 hours and had only just reached the beginning of Act 4 out of 5. Act 3 was such a slog for me. Story-wise it was compelling, but it's essentially an entire Act where the game takes all of your items and gear away and forces you to survive on scraps. I've never…

There is plenty to love about this game, and the other reviews will tell you all about it, but here are the things that kept me from loving it. 1. NOTE: They rolled back the launcher. I will change this to a positive review IF AND ONLY IF Dark Heresy doesn't have one. This was an excellent game until this morning when they introduced a launcher. Then they 'creatively interpreted the truth' and said it was 'optional' - while it still runs in the background. Do not buy the game. Do not buy Dark Heresy. Do not pay a dime to them until they stop being disingenuous about what they're doing on your computer.

My wife and I are running a coop campaign together. This is by far the best WH40K game we've ever played. Rogue Trader is a great introduction to anyone trying to learn about Warhammer 40K, as well as a fantastic game for Warhammer veterans. Most other game worlds in this setting are just glorified battle maps where you run around shooting people. But in this game you will interact with the people who live in this universe and learn about how they go about their lives. How different factions…

It's just a perfect CRPG in space. This is what KotOR sequels should have been. Owlcat, please get a Star Wars license and make a game set in the Expanded Universe, away from disney sequel and high republic nonsense!

As a massive 40k fan, having read dozens of the novels and played almost every half-decent 40k game on steam, this game should be right up my alley.... but after 10 hours of trying, and a few restarts, I just can't get into it. Don't get me wrong, there really is a great game here, but I feel like it's fully geared towards classic cRPG fans, which, unfortunately, I am not. My main grievance with this game is the levelling and skills system. Holy crap.... this has to be one of THE most…

The best entry point into the 40k universe and a fantastic crpg as a whole. 10/10

An incredibly immersive game, and great classic RPG. The music is fantastic, adds so much to the atmosphere that is already impeccable. I was always pretty agnostic when it came to the Warhammer universe, and you don't have to understand it at all going into it, I was clueless. But this game is so good it made me want to delve deeper into the lore. Speaking of lore there's a gigantic amount of it but it's all told so seamlessly and interestingly that it's got you hooked from start to finish.…

Owlcat Games does WH40K justice. A fantastic RPG game set in the current times using well adapted mechanics. Fun. Deep. Expansive. Replayable. That's what Rogue Trader is. The engine used in the Pathfinder games, but better. Good skill sets that have great range and utility combined with a massive amount of synergy between the classes and loadouts. But not all it perfect because the camera angles need work in the tactical combat and land exploration parts of the games. But that's…

An interesting, complex, CRPG that blends the adventuring of games like Neverwinter Nights and the Baldur's Gate franchises with turn-based tactics combat found in CRPGs such as the Shadowrun games like Dragonfall. Less than 135 hours to complete the core game (not counting DLC) on "Daring" difficulty for the first time, having explored all the optional locations. Subsequent playthroughs should be quite a bit quicker once players are familiar with the systems and the game. The…

Abelard tell them about the review!! Yes Lord Captain This game is the Absolute best when it comes to representing Warhammer 40000. The Environment Design captured 40k perfectly. Every planet you visit especially the main quest planets have so much detail that I was looking at them so much. Also the game is huge, just for the base game without DLC's. The soundtrack was also very nice and suited the 40k theme very well. Also you'll be reading a lot because not everything is voiced. I…

To this day, WH40k:Rogue Trader is Owlcat best CRPG. Players with no ties to the WH40k franchise can use the ingame "mouse-over" information system and have a good chance to understand the strangeness of the universe without any prerequisites. Which was a game changer for me.
